Ex-Gay Watch points out that Exodus International, WorldNetDaily, Focus on the Family, the Traditional Values Coalition hate group, and religious-rightist Liberty Counsel all defy mainstream science — without telling their readers — and redefine sexual orientation in a fashion that associates same-sex-attracted persons with bestiality (which Exodus misspells) and necrophilia (sex with dead people).

At least, Exodus did redefine sexual orientation until Ex-Gay Watch caught them in the act. In the past two days, Exodus silently covered up its fraud.

Here are Exodus’ definitions of sexual orientation, before and after Exodus’ misconduct was exposed:

Exodus Misdefines Sexual OrientationUntil this week, Exodus fraudulently equated sexual orientation with what the American Psychological Association has long called “paraphilias” — not orientations.

Exodus Covers Up its Redefinition of Sexual OrientationThirty-three years after its creation, Exodus silently changes its definition of sexual orientation. Readers of the corrected definition might mistakenly think Exodus had understood sexual orientation all along.

How is it that an organization of Exodus’ longevity, which claims to teach churches the “Truth” about sexuality, could not tell the difference between orientation — an enduring emotional, romantic, sexual, or affectional attraction toward others — and what the APA calls “recurrent, intense sexual urges, fantasies, or behaviors that involve unusual objects, activities, or situations and cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning”?

Why has Exodus refused to tell its churches and supporters that the organization has been lying about such basic information?

Why did Exodus omit the fact that APA policy “opposes any psychiatric treatment, such as “reparative’ or “conversion’ therapy which is based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon a prior assumption that the patient should change his/her homosexual orientation.”

And why has Exodus taken no action to correct its allies’ ongoing disinformation regarding sexual orientation?

Gender Across Borders takes notice of U.S. ex-gay activists’ recent efforts to fund, endorse, and export vigilantism, imprisonment, and torture abroad.

The Whole Gay Truth reports:

…A former Lutheran pastor who underwent therapy and hypnosis in an attempt to become heterosexual is to speak at a psychotherapy conference in London in May.

Pink News is reporting that Maris Sants is to appear at the joint Pink Therapy and UK Council for Psychotherapy conference, “Working with Gender and Sexual Minorities”.

The Pink News article says the conference, scheduled for May 15th and 16th, will look at how homophobia in health care and mental health services continues to impact on lesbian, gay and transgender people and other sexual minorities.

Exodus International culture warrior Alan Chambers’ unsuccessful battle against his own homosexuality has required him to organize a whole platoon of code words, obfuscations, and carefully worded insults in order to market his failure as a success story — and in order to portray moral gay people as defective objects of derision.

The Genocide for Jesus blog offers a glossary to decipher Alan Chambers’ self-promotions and putdowns against people who are sexually honest.

Exodus International today announced the reformation of its church network as the Exodus Church Association.

In an e-mail message to supporters, Exodus Church Association director Jeff Buchanan declared:

Our goal is to empower pastors to meet this challenge so that those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attractions will find the freedom so many have experienced first-hand. In the future, the ECA will be developing resources specifically designed to meet the needs of pastors and ministry leaders to help meet this goal.

Remember: Exodus’ idea of “biblical truth and Christ-like compassion” just two months ago was to co-launch a Uganda campaign of antigay vigilantism, imprisonment, and forced ex-gay therapy. (Read More)

Focus on the Family today welcomed what it called “good news” that Carrie Prejean would not lose her Miss California USA crown. However, the organization continued to conceal news of Carrie Prejean’s repeated and recent erotic-photo shoots as well as a permanent demotion that Prejean received from California pageant officials, after she discarded her pageant duties in favor of photo-ops with the religious right.

Instead of discussing the facts, Focus on the Family promoted a two-part radio broadcast in which Dr. James Dobson talked with Prejean about her perceptions of persecution and her stand against marriage.

The purpose of inviting Miss California to Focus on the Family was not to “debate the merits of beauty pageants, or the swimsuit competition or the profession of modeling,” Dr. Dobson said. “We agree with those in the audience who oppose that kind of sensuality.

“That’s not our purpose here. I want everyone to know the behind-the-scenes story related to the answer Carrie gave.”

Unknown to Focus readers and listeners, Prejean refused to participate with other pageant winners in a Miss California USA public service announcement that promoted civility, respect and diversity. Instead, Prejean assured Focus on the Family that she is the role model for these values:

“I hope I have inspired others to maintain compassion, civility, respect and tolerance while staying true to your convictions, and to never, ever compromise your beliefs … regardless of the consequences.”

A British evangelical group called “Church Society for Bible, Church and Nation” — an oxymoron, to be sure — warns that former ex-gay Peterson Toscano is “promoting immorality” by teaching what the Bible says about gender.

The Society, which opposes an allowance of privacy for Christians, says of Toscano and his “Transfigurations” play about transgender issues in the Bible:

Toscano is someone who has apparently trawled the Bible and attempted to find in it references to people who “do not fit the gender binary’. This sort of argument is not uncommon and anyone who had encountered it will know just how the desire to find such leads to a twisted and selective reading into the text of Scripture, yet sadly many who dismiss the plain teaching of Scripture seem enthralled by such perverse handling of the text.

To “trawl” means to dig deeply; apparently the Society prefers a superficial approach to the Bible, instead. Hence its rejection of the Bible when its stories deviate from strict gender roles policed by self-righteous evangelicals.

But Toscano doesn’t need us to defend him; he ably discusses Transfigurations right here:

Even as Donald Trump prepared to give Carrie Prejean a second chance as Miss California USA, Prejean continued on Monday to use her title as a soapbox for fundamentalist bigotry — appearing on James Dobson’s daily Focus on the Family’s radio program and playing hooky from official pageant assignments such as this one:

While other pageant winners were promoting California’s diversity, Prejean was promoting her own superiority. According to U.S. News’ God & Country blog, Prejean told Dobson on Monday:

I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question [about allowing gay Americans to marry]. And then God was in my head and in my heart saying, “Do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me and you need to share with all these people . . . you need to witness to them and you need to show that you’re not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA.”

In other words, it seems:

  • Perez Hilton is Satanic for asking a reasonable question and following it up with a sexist slur
  • it’s Satanic to affirm marriage, as equality advocates do, and
  • it’s Satanic to oppose the bigotry, sleaze, and compromise that Prejean represents.

The great compromiser in the scandal is, of course, Prejean herself: She freely mixes pro-family rhetoric with erotic photos, contractual infidelity with talk of integrity, icons of women’s progress with stunning ignorance, demands for one-way tolerance with contempt for diversity.

carrieIt was unusually satisfying to watch beauty contestant turned Bible-thumper Carrie Prejean crash and burn. In the bat of an eyelash, she went from Christian role model to wannabe underwear model after racy pictures of her surfaced. “They were quite inappropriate and certainly not photos befitting a beauty queen,” Alicia Jacobs, a Miss USA judge, told NBC’ Today Show.

The verb “strip” is the one most associated with Prejean’ name these days. She stripped her clothes, may be stripped of her Miss California crown and was certainly stripped of her moral authority as a spokesperson for marriage. In her brief stint as America’ scold, she forgot to memorize one Bible passage: “Judge not lest thou be judged.”

What’ amazing is that the circus-like antics of Prejean are the rule, not the exception for today’ anti-gay activists. There has clearly been a brain drain among our opponents — with the conservative intelligentsia largely running from GLBT issues. Filling the vacuum, are the vacuous — with little to offer, other than comedic relief. (Read More)

quinlanIn a bizarre speech to the PepsiCo board, Greg Quinlan, an activist with Parents & Friends of ‘Ex-Gays’, (PFOX) demanded that the company stop donating to gay rights groups, such as Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). He claimed that PFLAG discriminates against heterosexuals – conveniently failing to mention that most members of the organization are straight parents.

A known extremist, Quinlan even referred to the innocuous PFLAG as a “hate group.” The activist then went on to mention a failed American Family Association boycott against the company. He forgot to discuss Michael Johnston, the AFA’s “ex-gay” poster boy, who is now living in a sex addiction facility in Kentucky. The Bible literalist also skipped over his recent divorce – which is reportedly frowned upon in the Bible. Quinlan is noted for instigating confrontations with gay activists, then calling the police to falsely claim he was the victim.

The PepsiCo board appeared to give Quinlan a chilly reception, stating that it supports diversity.

Queerty has more – including an audio clip of his surreal, paranoid speech.
