Dear Friends:
This week, Truth Wins Out has been busy raising awareness about GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s church, which supports so-called “ex-gay ministries.” Wasilla Bible Church believes that people can “pray away the gay” and is actively promoting Focus on the Family’s Love Won Out conference — which will be coming to Anchorage this Saturday.
This morning, I board a plane and travel to Anchorage to fight back against the ex-gay lies that have harmed so many gay and lesbian people. I will be joining the Metropolitan Community Church and other local organizations to help young GLBT people understand that they are not broken and in need of fixing. They are not sick and in need of healing.
These young people are fine just the way they are and we will make sure they know it.
Truth Wins Out likes to be on the ground where the action is. It is not enough for us to sit in the comfortable confines of New York City and send out press releases over a fax machine. We travel where vulnerable people in conservative areas need to hear our messages of love, hope and acceptance.
But, our work takes money and we need your help to continue our outreach. Help me fight back in Alaska by giving what you can today. If you can generously give $1,000, please consider doing so. If what you are able to offer right now is $10, we can use your help. Join the fight to educate America and help GLBT teenagers find the self-acceptance they deserve.

Can’t afford to give a donation, but could give you some American Airline miles to fly to Alaska. Will that help?

Wayne, I’ve already let you know how much I appreciate your work, and how important I know it is.
I now have my sister and nephews added to your newsletter and I donate financially what I can. I wish it could be more, but my extremely “fixed budget” doesn’t allow much leeway.
I trust you to keep up the good fight, and for you to know that we are with you all the way! Bob.

Not enough members of the media are paying attention to Palin’s extreme ideas, or those of her church. Of course, if she were Black (or a Lesbian and a member of the MCC) you can bet her church would be in the news every day.
So thank you for doing the work that you do (donation on the way).

>>>These young people are fine just the way they are…<<<???
See if they listen to that lie when they are gnashing their teeth with you in the pits of an everlasting burning lake of fire…
I agree… they aren’t broke… they aren’t sick… they are sinners and need the love of Jesus. They don’t need to be fixed or healed… they need to be forgiven and delivered.
In Jesus name I pray that you have the guts to post this message.
Thank you

I can’t wait for the day when it’s illegal for nutball “christians” to yap this line off to people; filed under “emotional rape” (especially when one of them says this to your children, without your permission).

I don’t think speech should be made illegal, but I do think that ex-gay quackery should be recognized as a consumer ripoff and treated as such.
Dawn Case believes in a god of self-righteous hate and dishonesty. She unfortunately seems to be a bit too busy pointing false accusations at others to notice her own moral wrongdoing.

Michael,
I agree free speech is one issue, but I believe it should be illegal for people to tell you you’re going to hell (or whatever), when it has nothing to do with your religion or non-religion.
As for when these people pull your children aside, and scare them with the threat of going to hell, I believe prison time is due for these people.
All I can say is I’ll travel out of state if I find out one of these “christians” does this to my niece or nephew. They’ll WISH there was a law which would put them in prison by the time I’m done with them, because emotional rape is just as bad as physical rape. And it’s no secret that most “christians” are rapists in one form or another.
