The same thing happened a few years ago at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Roeland Park, Kansas.
The music director, Joe Nadeau, was terminated because he was openly gay. They made no bones about terminating him for this reason. The story made a splash for a while in the Kansas City Star newspaper, but then it disappeared.
It is all a sad commentary on the deplorable condition that the Catholic Church has sunk to in the past 10 years. This church seems to define itself by who the EX-clude instead of who they IN-clude.
Even Catholics who are sympathetic to the plight of gay and lesbian people still financially contribute to this monolith. This only contributes to the festering boil of hatred that lives on and on.
Fortunately, I left a long time ago. It worked out well for both of us. I am happy to be gone and they're happy that I am gone.
