I have long believed this to be true.
Here in San Francisco, the LGBT community is dysfunctional on a level that's unimaginable.

Gay men routinely prance around with
their noses in the air, acting like it's beneath them to speak to one aother.
Constantly bombarding each other with nasty remarks is a sign of "wit and sophistication."

I've encountered LGBT activists who support Palestinian suicide bombers, while refusing to give each other the time of day.

Anyone who asks to be treated with anything even remotely resembling courtesy gets a cold, snarky lecture about "co-dependency".

I used to pal around with a lesbian couple who were once my closest friends in the world. I cut them lose because they felt it was their job to boss me around and teach me "lessons."
They taught these "lessons" with tirades that were abusive beyond words.
By their own admission, they needed to be abusive because "we're empowering ourselves as lesbian feminists and educating you about your co-dependemcy."
Within the LGBT community, they get a lot of support for this kind of lunacy, from women & men alike.

This is the most damaged community I have ever seen, and no one is dealing with it.
It's a profoundly tragic thing to see.

It doesn't surprise me in the least to hear that the negative rhetoric from ex-gay ministries may be inflicting this kind of damage,
I would add the ministries of Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, Fred Phelps, and many others like them to the list of those inflicting harm.

Standng up to and exposing the lies of these self serving hypocrites, as Wayne Besen does, is important.

But we must also own up to the way we're treating each other, and deal with it.
That's the only way to heal ourselves and learn how to love each other.
