Connecticut’s Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making the state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions. The divided court ruled 4-3 that gay and lesbian couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry under the state constitution, and Connecticut’s civil unions law does not provide those couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples.
“We are delighted that the court has ruled in favor of equal marriage rights,” said Wayne Besen, Executive Director of Truth Wins Out. “This is a historic day that underscores the unstoppable momentum of marriage equality for our families.”

Get ready, the heads of numerous religious wackos are about to eplode…
I mean, explode.
ooo.. does this mean MORE states will follow. Incidently, should prop 8 (in calif) pass (shudder), would Connecticut get a good portion of that 53+ million dollars projected to go to california (based on the prop failing)?
:: if this doesn’t make sense, I apologize. Must have spent too much time trying to decypher the babble from those that need to protect thier “vision” of marriage.
aj :)
Uh-oh, I guess all those straight couples that are married in Connecticut will have to divorce because the sanctity of their marriage has been destroyed.
With all the kinds of straight people that are allowed to get married (murderers, rapists, child molestors, multiple-divorcees, etc) it would seem rather hypocritical to say that same sex marriage would destroy the institution of marriage.
I think the reason for being against it, comes from uncomfortability and that’s it. Congrats CT! New Jersey’s jealous! :)
(Almost everyone I talk to here in NJ doesn’t have a problem with it and many in fact want it)
