One day after State Senator John Campbell announced he is going to introduce a gay marriage bill this legislative session, Campbell received a threat.
The Windsor County Democrat says he got a call at the Statehouse from a woman who threatened to blow up his house.Police are investigating the threat.
Where are all the conservatives who complained about the “violence” in the largely peaceful gay rallies? Why aren’t they up in arms about this?
And what about the hinting-at-violent threats made today by Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families. He said that the California Supreme court is, “playing with fire by threatening to destroy the people’s vote on marriage.” And that “if the court disobeys the constitution by voiding Prop. 8, it will ignite a voter revolt.”
So, if the court does its duty and protects a minority from discrimination, what kind of “revolt” and “fire” does the fanatical fringe have planned?

It’s different when they do it. They’re defending “traditional values” and “the children”. We’re just being spoiled brats who want to “inflict our hideous lifestyle on everyone”. Extortion, bribery, threats and even violence are fine when you do it in the name of “family values”.
It’s funny, when I read the title for this entry (“Double standards and hints of violence”) I actually thought you were going to discuss the issues of anti black violence in gay rallies in the last few days and how African Americans are being unfairly targeted although many other groups(including white catholics)voted in equally high numbers. But I guess hints of violence toward gays is not as important as hints of violence FROM gays.
I wonder if white gays in California are outraged and “up in arms” about OUR VERY OWN LGBT blacks being harrashed by OUR VERY OWN marchers.
Javy,
In 300 rallies across the nation, only one — in one neighborhood in L.A. — suffered from some white racist goons who attempted to disrupt the protest by shouting the N-word.
The other 299+ rallies were peaceful.
Your suggestion that because some goons in L.A. used a racist epithet, therefore all white gay people are violent racist thugs, is itself racist.
Truth Wins Out has been clear about its commitment to black LGBT concerns, and its opposition to scapegoating. And it will remain so.
What about all the threats and violence torwards those who disagree with homosexuals?
Why is it that just because someone takes a stand against the homosexual movement, we are accused of hate and bigotry.
Interestingly enough, the hate and intolerance seems to be coming from the homosexual population and not the conservatives who are just taking a different position.
David, what threats and violence? Please cite specific incidents and provide proof of the incident from reliable news sources.
Your suggestion that people are accused of hate and bigotry just because they find homosexual behavior disagreeable is false. Bigotry is the stubborn expression of false generalizations about entire classes of people.
Since you make false generalizations about the “hate and intolerance” of the entire “homosexual population,” you are in fact making bigoted statements. Why be ashamed of that, David? Be proud of it.
“What about all the threats and violence torwards those who disagree with homosexuals?

David,
What about the “christians” like Falwell, Anita Bryant, James Dobson and Tony Perkins pushing for the execution of gay people two times in the late 70′s and early 80′s?
What about all the ACTUAL threats and violence towards gay people throughout the decades, and especially since the 70′s?
Gay people don’t hang outside of straight bars, attacking/killing patrons. We don’t set off bombs in straight clubs. We don’t set their homes on fire, just because they’re flying a religious flag outside of their house.
“Christians” are accused of hate and bigotry, because it’s true. Get rid of people like Dobson, Falwell, and those nuts, and maybe public opinion might start to change.
How would YOU like it if you woke up and saw some Muslim-American religious leader on TV giggling about “oh we’ll let the government decide how to execute the Christians”? Because the “Christians” have done the same thing to gays, not once, but twice – and not that long ago, either.
