The PopeOn Christmas Eve, the Pope chastised humanity for “selfishness” — while he preached in gold robes that clearly were not purchased at K-mart. Nothing speaks to shared sacrifice during a recession like an opulent display of wealth by the pontiff, who sat on a throne and wore a gold crown. He might do better reaching the “greedy” paupers if he’d given up his Prada footwear for a trip to Payless Shoes. The Pontiff’s sermon was the equivalent of Donald Trump urging New Yorkers to take mass transit — as he gets out of a stretch limousine.

The Pope’s hypocrisy is as pronounced on issues of poverty as it is on sexual orientation. It is increasingly hard to take him seriously on critical matters of the day.

In his Dec. 22 World Youth Day speech, the Pope spoke about the environment — and somehow tied it to his favorite obsession, homosexuality.pope

On the environment, the pope said: The earth is “the gift of our Creator, with certain intrinsic rules that offer us an orientation we must respect as administrators of creation. … [The church] must defend not only the earth, water and air as gifts of creation that belong to all. It must also defend the human person against its own destruction. What’ needed is something like a “human ecology,’ understood in the right sense. It’ not simply an outdated metaphysics if the church speaks of the nature of the human person as man and woman, and asks that this order of creation be respected.”

The pope went on to opine that if humanity ignores this “order of creation,” it is self-destructive. “That which is often expressed and understood by the term “gender’ in the end amounts to the self-emancipation of the human person from creation and from the Creator,” and as a result “the human person lives against the truth, against the Creator Spirit,” said the pope.

I saw the movie “Doubt” last night. It was a chilling reminder that this anti-gay church presided over a shocking child sex scandal. Clearly, the Pope has little moral authority to preach to those of us who have hurt no one. He ought to get his gilded palace in order before pointing his manicured fingers covered in gold rings at innocnet people.

  1. “Destruction of humanity?”

You know, time and time again, I hear people saying that homosexuality is wrong because if everyone in the world was homosexual, then the population would die out.

Well if everyone in the world was a priest or nun committed to their vow of celibacy, wouldn’t the same thing happen?

  2. Hey James,
That’s a good point! Of course, then they’ll tell you that very few are called to the vocation. I always like the “what ifs”. They’re such bullshit. It’s about the most feeble argument one can present. Never in the course of man’s history has “everyone” been gay – not even close to everyone. One can always tell a “non-thinking mind” is in the room when they present such silly rationalizations for their mean-spirited attitudes. The Pope notwithstanding!

  3. My point Gianni, is that the church is posing the argument that homosexuality cannot be natural because if everyone in the world was gay, then the population would die out. Of course it would, but the same thing would happen if everyone in the world was a priest or a nun. Of course, the church would not have a problem if someone decided to become a priest or a nun.

But if someone is homosexual (which isn’t even a choice) then the church has a problem with it and poses the same kinda “what if” argument.

Yeah I don’t like them either. They’re a poor excuse for an argument.

  4. The pope can condemn gay people from his pretend country all he wants.

At least we aren’t former Hitler Youth, and at least we haven’t been encouraging parents to NOT report child sex abuse from the Catholic church.

Judging from how truly evil this man is, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s got a laundry list of boys he’s fucked and fucked-up over the decades as well.

Gay people have NOTHING on THAT ancient sissy.

  5. That great eyesore is by far the most evil presence in Italy.

  6. I spent 5 months in Rome and frequently walked by the Vatican. It is completely made of precious metals and beautiful stone. Even the Renaissance Master paintings inside are made of perfectly cut stone, not paint at all!

It is sickening. How can the Pope open up the gospel books, read about Jesus’ treatment of the poor and of the wealthy (and of wealth in general) and still sleep soundly in his golden palace?

Perhaps this is how the church keeps its power, by staying obscenely wealthy. But Jesus didn’t need wealth to have any kind of power, right?

  7. I quit the Roman Catholic Church because of the hierarchy’s runaway wealth, arrogance, and immorality — all sadly exemplified by the new pope, the former Joseph Ratzinger, who has corrupted the church’s uppermost reaches for decades.

I find it astonishing that Catholics — clergy and laity — are willing to tolerate so much brazen sin from their leadership.

  8. And THIS, dear friends, is why I am now ex-Catholic and anti-establishment. Give anyone too much power and they turn into hypocritical power-abusers. I just finished a book in my freshman seminar class about how Islam is behind the times and the faith is hindering Islamic countries in the modern world. (Not my opinion, this is what the book is about.)

Seems to me that the church is doing the same thing, only its followers aren’t so zealous that any questioning of dogma and doctrine brands someone an automatic traitor… so we kind of go back to our quiet lives and ignore what we don’t like.

This guy.. he is obsolete, I think. I think he needs to be dethroned and depowered because if you think about it, when has a pope (aside from John Paul II, I kinda liked him. Good guy.) ever been beneficial for the community of believers and nonbelievers alike? Someone’s always suffering or being accused at the hands of the pope and church administration.

I say tear it all down, but, y’know, that’s just me, and I’m sure my wonderful-though-Catholic friends wouldn’t be too happy with it… so I’ll just keep my secret wishes quiet.
