Barack Obama’s administration already has on the White House website its support for the LGBT Community. This is a great day,
I have to say what a relief it is to have the worst president in the history of the nation out of office. Obama gave a terrific speech today and I have high hopes for his presidency.
Wayne Besen is the Founding Executive Director of Truth Wins Out and author of “Anything But Straight: Unmasking the Scandals and Lies Behind the Ex-Gay Myth” (Haworth, 2003). In 2010, Besen was awarded the “Visionary Award” at the Out Music Awards for organizing the American Prayer Hour, an event which shined a spotlight on the role American evangelicals played in the introduction of Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

At 76 years old, I remember many presidents and Bush’s 8 years was the longest, slowest moving of them all! What a wonderful breath of fresh air to have Obama. I suspect he chose Rick Warren just to be “inclusive,” though it was a bad choice.

3 Cheers? Not so fast. Yes, he’s not Bush (thank god), but that doesn’t mean I am prepared to kneel and kiss his ring. He’s a pol – and will shift as all pols do. He is NOT pro marriage. The Rick Warren ‘thing’ was an absolute disgrace – why folks keep giving him a pass on that is beyond me. That said I think I am cautiously optimimistic – but pressing him to take action based on his words is what’s right.
