Ex-Gay Watch points out that Exodus International, WorldNetDaily, Focus on the Family, the Traditional Values Coalition hate group, and religious-rightist Liberty Counsel all defy mainstream science — without telling their readers — and redefine sexual orientation in a fashion that associates same-sex-attracted persons with bestiality (which Exodus misspells) and necrophilia (sex with dead people).
At least, Exodus did redefine sexual orientation until Ex-Gay Watch caught them in the act. In the past two days, Exodus silently covered up its fraud.
Here are Exodus’ definitions of sexual orientation, before and after Exodus’ misconduct was exposed:
Until this week, Exodus fraudulently equated sexual orientation with what the American Psychological Association has long called “paraphilias” — not orientations.
Thirty-three years after its creation, Exodus silently changes its definition of sexual orientation. Readers of the corrected definition might mistakenly think Exodus had understood sexual orientation all along.
How is it that an organization of Exodus’ longevity, which claims to teach churches the “Truth” about sexuality, could not tell the difference between orientation — an enduring emotional, romantic, sexual, or affectional attraction toward others — and what the APA calls “recurrent, intense sexual urges, fantasies, or behaviors that involve unusual objects, activities, or situations and cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning”?
Why has Exodus refused to tell its churches and supporters that the organization has been lying about such basic information?
Why did Exodus omit the fact that APA policy “opposes any psychiatric treatment, such as “reparative’ or “conversion’ therapy which is based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon a prior assumption that the patient should change his/her homosexual orientation.”
And why has Exodus taken no action to correct its allies’ ongoing disinformation regarding sexual orientation?

Nice!
Just yesterday, Exodus boasted to churches that the organization proclaims “biblical truth and Christ-like compassion.”
Yet Exodus apparently wanted churches to believe that Jesus spent his three-year ministry “compassionately” equating same-sex-attracted people with bestiality and corpse sex.
Exodus apparently reads some bible other than the Christian Bible.
Exodus’ re-re-definition of orientation states that orientation is “easily distinguished from other components of sexuality.”
Sure it’s easy — but apparently not easy enough for Exodus.
As a former member of Exodus I can only wonder. What Exodus is really peddling is an intense sense of peer pressure to redefine yourself as broken and in need spiritual repair contingent on you accepting the message that your deepest natural sexual identity is immoral. If evangelicals put a fraction of the energy they are only too happy to put forth to convince gay people that they need to be asexual until their sexual identity magically turns heterosexual, to reverse the alienation and condescension of churches and determined commitment to deny glbt American citizens our most basic civil rights, they would have much more evangelical success. The whole message of The messiah was to teach the world that gods people are so based on love; love for god and love for and respect for others. Instead the larger church has created a religious war on glbt Americans, becoming a tool of anti-christian political and spiritual violence. Why do these people love bacon and shrimp while they claim some unique understanding of The Word of God. I rebuke you, in Jesus name, you w***e of Babylon.
But WHY? I just can’t get that question out of my mind. Why do they suddenly give a crap about being truthful? They certainly don’t care what anyone in the LGBT community think about their lies. They also have been fully aware of their lies for the entire time that they have been perpetuating them. And, it isn’t like any of the hordes who listen to them care to do any independent research to fact-check them. And (the biggest of all of the ANDs), the other lying liars need a source that they can quote that gives them “some” plausible deniability if they ever get trapped in the lie.
So WHY??
Some of these questions may be overshadowed by the unfortunate fact that several Exodus leaders deny the very existence of sexual orientation.
In this view, all people are heterosexual, and some people merely have a struggle with homosexual temptation caused by childhood trauma or bad parenting. It is said that these heterosexuals could rid themselves of their homosexual temptation if they really wanted to.
I posted the same comment on goodasyou.org…HETEROSEXUALITY is listed among the “30 orientations”! Read the list carefully, it’s right before “homosexual/gay/lesbian.” So even while this definition was up, anyone taking the time to read at least half-way down the list would get an interesting surprise.
Somebody needs better copyeditors lol…
For however much longer they last, don’t expect Exodus or any of its reps to be truthful about anything.
Seriously, when has Alan or Randy been truthful about ANYTHING?
