It’s the statement that Mr. Brown released to the media.

The “potential for violence” angle of this entire thing has been interesting but highly distracting.

The real danger in this situation, as the link shows, is Mr. Brown’s attempts to demonize the lgbt community while at the same time trying to deceive us all with kind words and claims of “Christian love.”

Just in case you don’t want to see the link I provided, one of the claims Brown made is that there was a conspiracy by the media to cover up the fact that Duke University official Frank Lombard is gay after he was arrested for molesting his five-year-old African-American son.

These are Brown’s exact words:

“We believe it is outrageous for the media to cover up the gay identity of a sexual predator who repeatedly raped his adopted, five-year-old African American son and offered him for sex through the internet – for fear of making homosexual couples look bad.”

That is a boldfaced lie and Mr. Brown knows this. There has never been any attempt to cover up the fact that Lombard is a gay man for fear of making gay couples look bad. And I might add Brown’s statement is no different than David Duke saying something like “the media is covering up some fact that the majority of crimes are committed by African-Americans because they don’t want black people to look bad.”

It appears to me that for all of his soothing tones, Mr. Brown’s statement reveals him to be yet another religious right talking head who relies on bad information, bad anecdotes, and current events taken out of context to demonize the lgbt community.

The only difference between Mr. Brown and Peter LaBarbera is that Mr. Brown smiles more. But his words are just as deceptive.

“Busted”? At least I know which website to go to whenever I need comic relief! :)

You should really focus on the real issues that divide us (and which we are both quite forthright about) rather than pursue these bogus rabbit trails (like the libelous reporting about a wonderful spiritual movement that took place over ten years ago in Pensacola, or the complete chimera that there is a “Joel’s Army” out there ready to attack).

But this is your website, not mine, and if you want to expend your time and energy chasing phantoms and making Perez Hilton’s website look like a bastion of sober reporting, be my guest. I simply add this post for the official internet archives.
