Same here, Mike. The ugliness of the right makes it imperative that the good guys are visible and active.

A few months ago, I was personally opposed to the march because it would not have a direct impact upon Congress and because it might draw resources away from important initiatives such as the campaign to protect marriage for gay people in Maine.

However, here in New England at least, activists are now solidly behind the march and confident they can still help out in Maine. And I sense a great deal of impatience toward the Democratic Party (especially in Rhode Island, where the Democrats are single-handedly obstructing marriage) and toward business-as-usual in the LGBT equality movement. The march may help steer people in a new and more active direction.

Wayne, thanks for putting your support behind the March. I'm on the fence as to whether I'll go - there's a pretty cheap bus that goes to DC from Philly - and I'm one of those young people who wants to feel the exhilaration of a march on Washington. It's not quite the same, sending money via credit card sitting behind your computer. Some might say marching won't make a difference, but Harvey Milk said the greatest enemy was the closet - and this is a huge way to reject the closet.
