Gentle Spirit, I'm comforted by the grace you seem to have, even as a "Christian Right." ;)

I only hope that you will extend your grace and desire for research and learning to the people who are the focus of this site, those who have been beaten down and left for dead by the Christian church, simply because they happen to be gay.

Many blessings to you this holiday season.

I'm a Christian Right, and I agree FULLY that spanking is wrong. When looking back at the original Hebraic and Greek scriptures, one will see that the bible does NOT advocate spanking! Sadly, many Christians don't read the bible, and too many that do read "paraphrases" that continue the spread of misinformation.

The "rod" was used to gentle "guide" sheep, not to hit them. Christians are to gently and lovingly discipline their children by giving guidance. Jesus has grace and mercy towards us, and so should parents towards their children.

There is a Christian movement against spanking (it's about time!). They are often referred to as grace-based parenting, graceful parenting, parenting in Jesus's footsteps, etc. These are often "thinking" Christians that think outside the box and decide to do the research for themselves. My hope is that they will continue to make efforts in spreading the word of gentle parenting.
