Who says that Fundamentalists are against the environment? In what promises to be one of the biggest reductions in noise and air pollution in decades, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson will end his radio career at the end of February. Last year, Dobson stepped down as chairman of the anti-gay group he founded in 1977 but remained the group’s primary radio voice.
Unfortunately, there appears to be no shortage of divisive figures who would like to fill his shoes, although none have yet to attain his prominence and stature. Rick Warren, Sarah Palin and Maggie Gallagher are potential successors. And Doug Coe from The Fellowship [also known as The Family] may be even more powerful than Dobson. So, there is hardly time to throw a victory parade.
Nevertheless, Dobson’s retirement will help clear the airwaves of at least a little bit of noise pollution. I’d hate to calculate how many lives his show has ruined and families torn apart by his anti-gay rantings.
Even as a church-going christian I knew somewhere in my heart, that this program was not “right”. Now that I’ve had a chance to see things from both sides, it scares me the hateful killing machine that the church has become.
Lol, one day, Dobson is gonna stand up and say, “I am God!” and all those bigoted conservative Christians are going to be crazy enough to believe him!
“Focus on the Family has never been about one man,” Daly added. “That’s why Dr. Dobson has always refused to have his name put on any building here. It’s about doing the Lord’s work in helping families.”
How meek of him.
Dr. Dobson will be missed. This man has a passion for helping and leading others and for spreading God’s word.
Dr. Dobson will not be missed. He spent his career promoting the immoral anti-gay agenda. Homophobia is a sin like lying, stealing and murder. Instead of recruiting others into this sin, Dr. Dobson should repent and beg God for forgiveness for the harm and misery he has brought to law-abiding, taxpaying gay Americans and our families.
On Judgment Day, James Dobson will be held accountable for estranging many of God’s beloved children, probably THE greatest sin. If he could misquote and use selective passages completely out of context from top researchers to suite his own wicked agenda, how much more has he not misquoted the Holy Bible to suite his misguided hateful and fearful rhetoric.
“His own wicked agenda”……I’m pretty sure the only agenda he is following is the one that God lays on his heart.

The “harm and misery” you talk about in Post #5 comes from the choice to live out a lifestyle of homosexuality or bisexuality. Sorry – but we are responsible for the consequences of our own decisions. Quit trying to play the victim and quit trying to blame your regret and torment on Dobson.
No, KC, you’ve got it wrong. God doesn’t lay wicked agendas like that of James Dobson and Focus on the Family on anyone’s heart. The devil – if such an entity exists – might well do so, however.

The gay people I know are very happy with their lives. They all say the only harm and misery they experience comes from people like you who try to deny them equal rights and assault their character.

Dobson might be surprised when he is greeted by a red dude with horns. While I am glad he has enhanced your life, he has also destroyed the families of so many other people.
Oh god, if you have a dachshund or other small puppy, be sure to enhance its security detail. Dobson with free time = not good.
