Two Facebook groups have been created by U.S. and Ugandan evangelicals to espouse antigay violence and promote legislation requiring the execution of Ugandan same-sex-attracted persons.
They are:
Speak Loud for Family: Support anti-homosexuality bill ’09
We are Ugandans and we do not support Gay
Acting on behalf of the LGBT Ugandans who must already remain in hiding, and who face execution starting in January 2010, Facebook members who favor equality and human rights have — since last week — reported the groups, and individual members who espouse violence.
Thus far, Facebook has taken no action. Please continue to report these groups and individual members who espouse violence or execution. If no action is taken, please write to abuse@facebook.com.

But also Michael, many people have joined it and made a mockery of the site. I am wondering whether to do the same: it might be a good idea for people to join it and just completely spam it,or fill it with support for LGBT people. Whoever ‘Christina Engela’ is I don’t know, but I’d buy her a drink or two for taking on these bigots on this page…..
I thought about that, but even Christina (and her SA GLAAD colleague Cobus Fourie) have called for people to report these groups.
I agree that while they’re available, the groups offer an opportunity to refute, repudiate, and shame the legislation’s supporters.
But I disagree that people who openly espouse violence should be hosted by a privately owned site that claims to oppose the misuse of its premises for such activity.
Christina Engela and Cobus Fourie are amazing, dedicated activists and people I admire very much. They do incredible work and we are fortunate to have them on our side.
Wow, truly scary ignorant crap on those pages… most of those morons can’t even spell or put two sentences correctly! Yes I have reported them, I wonder why Facebook is dragging their feet?
Done. Facebook needs to shut those pages down.
