I guess there's rotten apples everywhere. We have a nice little bigoted legal organisation here as well who masquerade as "protectors of justice" - it takes just a little digging in court records to connect the dots.

We may have Constitutionally enshrined rights to equality and marriage equality but it takes considerable effort to maintain the status quo. I would not call this a utopian country because it is far from it, at least our Constitution authors were/are formidable people.

It saddens me greatly to read something like this. Being a Medical Doctor myself, I can't say I'm surprised. Many, if not most of the senior doctors I have worked with have a warped perception of LGBTI people and issues. Most of them continue to view it as a psychiatric illness and this has, in my experience, a detrimental effect on the patients they treat as well as the gay doctors who train under them. I feel so very sad that my (supposedly noble) profession that weilds such power and should be a force for good in this world can be complicit in such evil.
