I would ask people to demand that NBC discipline Kathie Lee Gifford for defending televangelist Pat Robertson after his historically false and racist condemnation of the people of Haiti…
… but the truth is, Gifford has never demonstrated that she has a strong conscience or moral insight of any significance. Why demand that she offer something that she doesn’t have?
The real problem here is that NBC hired her in the first place. Those who hired her — and hosts like her — should resign.
Gifford and too many other conservative Christians define morality not according to how people treat one another and talk about one another, but whether they say untruthful and malicious things with the proper toothy Christian smile and whether they “stick to what they believe.”
Gifford has always been a bible thumping jackass, and she and her ilk are *anything*, but Christians. Even if she likes that jerkwad and shares his twisted religious beliefs, you’d think this horse’s a*s would have enough sense to keep her mouth shut about robertson’s heinously cruel and stupid beyond belief comments.
She did disagree with some of what he said, or at least the context in which he said it, but her disagreement was extremely weak and defensive of him.
Too bad her maiden name is Jewish. Her Reverend brother’s name is “David Paul Epstein.” Probably excellent fodder for trying to ensnare unsuspecting Jewish people into Messianic “Judaism.”
