Bob, if there were any inaccuracies or omissions in this article, you would have identified them and documented -- from reliable sources -- what you believe to be the facts. Instead, you sidestepped very well-documented point that the article made.

The following qoute from Jim Garlow was from an online broadcast posted on the Concerned Women for America website leading up to the Prop 8 vote:

"We're watching California and the vote on marriage. Because if you fail there to stop it, if you fail to stop it, what will be unleashed across the world will be a spirit worse than radical Islam."

I wonder if McPherson doesn't want to testify because he would be asked point blank about his opinions on gays, most specifically his citing of discredited Paul Cameron studies regarding gays and children.

The fact that this piece is so very skewed and inaccurate is not suprising why so many are riled up. The fact that it claims the persecution is a myth when it is well documented, I think is interesting.
I guess anything that will help a person to feel justified in their hatred towards the opposition is necessary when they simply disagree.

I think the claim of persecution against Prop 8 proponents is a tactic by the legal team defending Prop 8, so that they will have some ready avenue of appeal and grievance when they lose the case. I really don't think that they believe that they can win at the trial and appeal level. Their only hope is at the Supreme Court where it is far more about politics than law.

People are withdrawling from the trial claiming fear of being persecuted as their reason. That will be presented to the court as proof that these people are being persecuted. This circular arguement will probably be useful in some way to Justices Thomas and Scalia, though at this ponit I don't know how.
