The Senate voted 18 to 7 to pass a civil-unions bill. The bill now moves to the House for consideration with a veto-proof majority. The bill would give same-sex and heterosexual couples the ability to enter into civil unions and receive the same state rights as marriage.
Good for them.
No word on whether not Maggie Gallagher has been spotted in a grass skirt and a seashell bra doing the hula, and you would have heard about it, so Hawai’i's probably safe for a minute or so.

Given Hawaii’s location on a thin part of the Earth’s crust and betwixt two plates … that would be unwise.
