The Only One Mommy Facebook group was created by Liberty Counsel attorney Rena Lindevaldsen and ex-gay activist Debbie Thurman to affirm the illegal activities of ex-gay activist Lisa Miller against daughter Isabella Miller-Jenkins and former partner Janet Jenkins.
Since 2004, with the help of Liberty Counsel, Miller has violated repeated court orders in Vermont and Virginia to respect Isabella’s visitation rights with Jenkins. And since Jan. 1, Miller has violated another court order requiring her to transfer custody to Jenkins. Instead, Miller abducted Isabella and went into hiding — presumably somewhere among fundamentalist churches that are allied with the Liberty Counsel.
The Facebook group’s activities in support of this kidnapping are now a legal liability — as is the Facebook group’s efforts to silence dissenters who care for the welfare of Isabella and Jenkins, not just Lisa and the Liberty Counsel.
So now Thurman has announced the hurried closure of this public group and the creation of a new, secret, invitation-only group. In a message to group members today, Thurman said:
Dear Folks,
I am letting you know about a major change. Only One Mommy is going defunct ASAP and will be replaced by a new group (still to be named) that will be created by Linda Wall. We want all members to know about the change so you can have the option of sending Linda a message (her FB profile is under Linda Marie Wall) to join the new group ASAP, if you wish to.
Linda Wall is the leader of Lighthouse Policy, a Virginia antigay fundamentalist project which rejects morality, freedom, civility, and religious freedom in favor of a Christian Right war against infidels, abortion, and homosexuality. Her project affirms the abduction and justifies it with Miller’s court-disproven defamations against Jenkins. Please contact Ms. Wall and politely challenge her efforts to aid and abet child abduction — and please consider reporting this activity on behalf of kidnapping to Facebook.
When radical anti-gay activists want to impose their religious beliefs on the rest of us, they make commercials (Prop. 8 for example) which scare people with unrelated issues to stop them from supporting same-sex marriage.
In order to defeat this, we need to do the same thing. You’ve higlighted a great example. “If gay American taxpayers are banned from marrying the person they love, children will be kidnapped from their parents by religious zealots. Think it can’t happen here? Well, it happened in Vermont and Virginia, etc., etc.” There are so, so many possibilities for commercials.
As an FBI agent friend of mine told me, you don’t officially have to be a person of interest to be investigated. Social networks such as FB provide an incredible amount of information and leads.
Linda Wall is an ex-gay activist as well. She unsuccessfully ran for elected office in the Tidewater area of Virginia years ago.
I wonder if someone who has been a supporter of the “Protect Isabella” coalition with Liberty Counsel and PFOX (including Regina Griggs) – or those supporting these facebook groups is helping to hide Jenkins. I hope Jenkins’s complies with the law before her time runs out for the child’s sake; if not, I hope the police do a thorough search in Reedville, Virginia, the Tidewater area, and Lynchburg, VA.
There are so many supporters of the ex-gay movement in Virginia that it would seem Jenkins wouldn’t have to leave the state to hide.
I wonder if Lisa Miller’s supporters have a poster campaign (with photos of Jenkins and Isabella) in Virginia.
Miller, Thurman, and Lindevaldsen need to be charged with RICO federal charges and brought up on federal kidnapping. They conspired along with Liberty Counsel to break the law and commit a kidnapping. The FBI should be on their trail and I hope that the full force of the law sees them in prison for a long, long time.
Miller, Lindevaldsen, and Thurman are innocent until proven guilty, whether one disagrees with their position or not. Anything else is conjecture and Mykelb’s post smacks of libel.

If the shoe were on the other foot, and it was Jenkins as biological mother and Miller awarded custody, I daresay there would be those just as willing to cheer the former’s flight with the child. It goes both ways. Sadly, the child is caught in the middle.
No, Lorraine, I can’t imagine ANYONE cheering a kidnapping by Jenkins. It does not go both ways.

So what exactly is Lisa Miller innocent until proven guilty of?
Contempt of court: guilty several times as well as currently.
Custodial interference? Guilty as well.
As for the others, suspicious as all get out and well worth investigating.
But I think it is a bit over the top to declare all three innocent.
I’ve seen the ‘Helping Isabella’ facebook page, as well as another entitled ‘Praying for a miracle for Isabella Miller’, which includes posts that suggest that people have been contacting Missing Children to get the poster of Isabella removed! I’ve made sure to report both pages to Facebook, as I’m sure they wouldn’t want pages on their site that support an actual kidnapping.
Having read this blog, I’ve also had a look at Linda Wall’s Lighthouse Policy page, and what I find there sickens me. The recently closed ‘Protect Isabella Coalition’ website seems to have found a new home on Linda Wall’s website. And when the contact link is selected, it states that ‘Helping Isabella’ is their mission and that donating money will help keep Isabella with Lisa Miller. The audacity of people like Linda Wall and others to openly ask for money to help fund a fugitive felon is just preposterous.

The ‘Helping Isabella’ page is now no more – the page contained content that was in violation of Facebook’s policies.
Linda Wall has vowed to contact Facebook everyday until she is informed of the offending content – in the meantime she’s created ANOTHER page, once again a private one, called ‘Lisa and Isabella’.
I wonder how long it will be before Linda Wall and others like her realise that their continued support for Lisa Miller using this medium will get them in trouble eventually?

I can’t imagine that Lisa Wall was a worse person as a pot-smoking lesbian than she is as a Fundamentalist fascist zealot.
Somehow, I think she managed a suppression without a conversion to anything worth becoming. I hope laws are in place to stop vicious lunatics from perpetuating these outrages, at the expense of children.
The criminals here are the groups of fanatics who think that their pseudo-religious delusions put them above the law.
