Late breaking, as they say:
“In his State of the Union address, President Obama asked Congress to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy. I am immensely proud of, and thankful for, every American who wears the uniform of our country, especially at a time of war, and I believe it would be a mistake to repeal the policy.
“This successful policy has been in effect for over fifteen years, and it is well understood and predominantly supported by our military at all levels. We have the best trained, best equipped, and most professional force in the history of our country, and the men and women in uniform are performing heroically in two wars. At a time when our Armed Forces are fighting and sacrificing on the battlefield, now is not the time to abandon the policy.”
I guess bigotry in the McCain family is carried on the Y chromosome.

President Obama is doing the right thing in calling for an end to this failed policy which the majority of Americans reject. It makes us LESS safe to continually kick out trained military personnel, some of whom also are fluent in Arabic.
Moreover, preventing law-abiding, taxpaying Americans from serving their country is not a legitimate religious belief or familiy value. It directly contradicts Christ’s commandments and it is immoral. Our government should not be in the business of promoting this pseudo-morality against its own citizens.
Yeah, yeah, yeah … heard it all before. President Obama “calls for” the end of DADT, but does nothing about it. It’s been a year since Obama took office. He needs to call the Joint Chiefs into the Oval Office, kick butt & order them to draft a policy change! What’s taking so long?

I dont why McCain and his gang think American military personnel are sooo inferior to other successful well-trained militaries in the civilized world who have no problems with openly gay/lesbian soldiery, including the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). Do they really think our recruits are that sensitive, immature and socially retarded that they couldnt deal with serving along side uncloseted gays?
McCain doesn’t know military policy very well, for a veteran.
He’s voted against the military ever since he got out, so it’s not very surprising that he’s doing it now.
