He said, that in retropect, he sees that these people arent so much 'mean' as they are extremely afraid of any type of change or new types of thought. (I'm paraphrasing here). Also, if you havent seen it, there's a pretty good DVD out called Yossi and Jagger, about 2 gay soldiers in the Israeli army. I actually heard him on his show once several years ago say he felt gay people are discriminated against. I don't agree with 99% of what he says, but in reality, he's not as anti-gay as many conservatives. Militant anti-gay activist LaBarbera on the other hand is gripping so tightly to his sin of homophobia that he has white knuckles. Anyone who disparages progressives or pro-equality Americans is OK in LaBarbera's book. Of course, he as you point out ignores the fact that many armed forces are fully integrated with gay soldiers and with no ill effects. Fox news for once is going with the majority of Americans who have said they support the repeal of DADT. If unrepentant homophobes want to swim against that tide, so be it.
