Rick “Man-on-Dog Sex” Santorum had this to say at CPAC this morning:

“Addressing how the military leadership, led by Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen, could now favor a repeal of the law, Santorum raised the specter of brainwashing. ‘Political correctness is reigning in the military right now,’ he said. ‘People say [on DADT] listen to the military brass. I’m not too sure that we haven’t so indoctrinated the officer corps in this country that they can actually see straight to make the right decision.’ The line went over well with the CPAC crowd.”

Uh huh. The top military brass is has been brainwashed into gayness. Rick Santorum somehow thinks he has a better understanding of the military than…the military?

This is just one more example of the double standard in American politics. Can you imagine what kind of outcry would currently be happening in Wingnuttia if, say, Nancy Pelosi asserted that she knew what was best for the military better than the military?

Oh, oh, oh, but don’t call Santorum a homophobe, says the Stockholm Syndrome Syndicate!

John Aravosis reminds us that this is the same man who once brought a dead baby home for his kids to bond with.

So I guess we’ll file this one under “Yep, still a creep.”

  1. Oh….my……GOD…..I just went to your link at the Gay Parrot Propaganda site and I can not believe that they defended that vile and probably insane bigot Rick Santorum. That was really taking it to a new and disturbing low, as far as giving cover to those who get elected on the backs of our families.

Shame on those apologists. It’s just embarrassing, really.

  2. I know, right?

But it’s par for the course. They try to play cute with language, but they basically buy into the Religious Right’s argument that gay unions are “different” and that we, essentially, need to prove to straight people that we’re worthy of the institution.

  3. I understand the need for education. This can take time. Part of our role is explaining to people that we are not a threat and their children cannot “catch” the gay. So, in that sense, we are proving we are a positive and not negative influence on family and society.

But, our ultimate goal is to demolish the arguments that are used to oppress us.

Where groups like Gay Propaganda Parrot go wrong is that they serve as apologists. They act as though our opponent’s lies have some merit. They entertain the dumb notion that “America isn’t ready”, so we must know our place. They undermine those who demand equality now by agreeing that we are radical and outside the mainstream. In doing so, they provide comfort to our foes and allow them to justify their bigotry.

The goal of gay conservatives groups is to argue for equality from a conservative point of view. This is too often confused with rolling over and selling out the LGBT community for, at best, access, and at worst, a pat on the back. (when no one is looking)

If these groups would focus on making conservative arguments, instead of inexcusably defending bigots like Santorum, they might have some value.

But, how often do they make the correct move and actually have an impact?

    Not very often….

  4. [...] We still have yohos like Rick Santorum working himself up into a frothy off-white mix about how the military brass has been “indoctrinated” into supporting repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. But there are signs of ice cracks. [...]

  5. Yeah, God forbid that the military might be able to think for themselves instead of buying into crap like that spewed by Santorum. The man is a puketard. I hadn’t heard about him bringing home a dead baby for his kids to bond with. Ewwwww.

I do not understand the whole Log Cabin/GOProud shtick. Get a clue boys and girls: the Repukes do not want you…the big tent doesn’t want you in it (along with the moderates). You guys just look pitiful.
