Actually, there is no such thing, A.Roddy, as the “gay lifestyle.” I agree that there are some people who “oppose homosexuality” who are in denial about the reality of sexuality, and who have been taught that they are being loving by “opposing the lifestyle.” They have been taught incorrectly, because if a person is gay, it is no more or less significant than any other immutable characteristic like hair color. What you’re saying is the exact same thing as “those who oppose being red-headed don’t hate redheads, just the red-headed lifestyle.”

And in fact, the girl in Massachusetts has gotten lots of attention. I don’t know what sources you read, but I’ve been keeping up with it, and it’s an awful story, and it shines a light on just how much more we need to do to protect ALL kids from bullying in school.

First of all those who oppose the lifestyle do not hate gays just the lifestyle. There are parents who dont want their kids exposed to certain things. Second, just because you dont agree with the lifestyle isnt implying fear. A poor girl was bullied into suicide in Massachesuttes but doesnt get nowhere the attention this does.

The students should just work on arranging their prom to be held elsewhere.

And I agree – it has to be a closet case throwing the hissy fit. Only a closeted homo would threaten to cancel the entire thing, and you know what the plan is: to turn the students against the girl, maybe a violent attack as well.

Man, this is just sick. I bet they got the idea from Catholic Charities when they got rid of benefits for ALL employees to avoid having to pay for the spouses of GLBT employees. How sick and mean-spirited can one be to deny high school kids their prom just because of the homophobes’ fear of GLBT.
