Ex Gay Watch revealed in an investigative report that Light House World Evangelism, Inc. will close. This ministry has been run by Matthew C. Manning, who claims God had cured him of AIDS and homosexuality. Although, his claims seem doubtful, considering he was arrested on three separate occasions for soliciting men. He was also banned from a popular gym after improper sexual advances were made on a 22-year-old heterosexual male.

According to Ex-Gay Watch, Manning had a revelation from God during the Winter Olympics to close up his sodomy shop, um, I mean, ministry.

“During the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics, the torch was extinguished, and the flame was symbolically given to the next host country. At the very moment the flame was extinguished in Canada, God said to me, ‘The Flame the Anointing the Presence and Power of My Holy Spirit, will no longer reside over LightHouse World Evangelism, Inc., rather it is being transferred to a new ministry that I am calling you and your family to.”

We can only look forward to Manning’s next venture. Maybe he will open a fundamentalist gym, now that he has no place to pump….iron.

  1. Love how they always fina way to bring “god” into their squalid little endeavors. If I was him, I’d much rather that they leave me OUT.

  2. I find it interesting how the claims made by Manning are not questioned or challenged for their un-biblical claims to “God spoke to me” and yet your website focuses way too much on the sins committed by this individual. I would admit that I am glad that you are exposing such individuals but don’t make it seem as if this is anything new to the Bible. False teachers and those who profess faith in Christ but don’t necessarily possess such saving faith are not true Christians (just read the book of 1 John). Christ’s followers, although they stumble at times, are those who are willing to admit their sin and repent (turn away from the sin(s) they committed) and live righteously before the Lord. Uh, duh nothing new. Moving on. With regards to the “God spoke to me” mentality that’s just wishful thinking. God no longer speaks (audibly) and those who claim that he does need to get their heads examined. God speaks through his word, period. God has equipped all true believers with the ability to know what to do on a given day. As long as the believer is living for the Lord, praying and abiding to his word then any decision that needs to be made should be in acknowledgment of such precepts. God will bless such a person. With Manning it is difficult to tell, God only knows, what went through this person’s mind when he started the ministry. Perhaps this supposedly God-fearing man should consider if a demon spoke to him or maybe it was one of the other voices in his head. I think he gave up the ministry because he sinned against God and in order to save face he gave up the ministry. Perhaps Manning had other reasons for giving up the ministry but one thing is for certain, rampant unrepentant sin can ruin a ministry. It appears that Manning felt that God would no longer bless the ministry because of what he did. At any rate, if the cat is out of the bag then just fess up and repent! I know I sound harsh but the truth of the matter is as Christians we are to live Coram Deo “before the face of God” in all that we say and do. We shouldn’t have to lie about sin or how God changed us in order to look good to the world. The world considers quick fixes as successes but God’s way is through his own sanctifying work. For some individuals deliverance is quick and for others God is working in every persons’ life a day at a time. I am an ex-gay man and I am joyfully living for Jesus. I am imperfect but I have been washed by the blood of Jesus and I have been set apart for God to provide me strength to do his will, namely to live for him alone. I don’t expect perfection until I reach glory in Heaven but I do expect to live for Jesus with every fabric of my being until he comes. Blessed be the name of Lord!

  3. Rob, if T.W.O. were to judge people according to Biblical standards, Manning isn’t the only person who would fail.

I appreciate your sincere enthusiasm for your faith. However, little that you say in the last several sentences of your comment seems to be Biblical. You are repeating godtalk that is frequently spoken by evangelical pastors, but it isn’t Biblical unless you ignore nearly the entire Bible in order to misinterpret a scattering of New Testament verses.

I am concerned in particular about your notion that people should abandon reason, individuality, and responsibility for one’s past actions — and pretend to be someone else. Modern evangelicals have stripped the Biblical Jesus of his character, his ethnicity, his motives, his influences, and a significant portion of his mission. They have no idea who Jesus was; instead, they frequently project their own egos and values onto Jesus.

You can’t live very well for someone if you don’t know them well, and you can’t live for someone that you have reimagined to be something significantly different from who he was (or is).

Get used to the “alone” part. Cuz your sexual attraction to men will never change to women. You might repress it into asexuality, but even then it never just goes away. Your only hope is if you are bisexual, you can then try to force yourself to only like women. Otherwise, yeah.. you’ll be living for God alone.

  5. Rob may be living his life for someone or something else, but I don’t think that someone or something is God. It is hard to imagine God being anywhere near as petty and sex obsessed as the right wing Christians who demand that gays live an empty life of isolation from anyone who might bring love and companionship into their life.
