Yeah, these people have grievances, but they don’t have a damn thing to do with the healthcare reform bill they claim to oppose. Most of them don’t even know what’s in the bill in the first place.
Via John Aravosis, first we have the anti-gay bigotry:
Things are getting pretty heated in the Capitol with crowds of anti-Reform/Tea Party activists going through the halls shouting slogans and epithets at Democratic members of Congress.
As our Brian Beutler reports, a few moments ago in the Longworth office building, a group swarmed a very calm looking Henry Waxman, as he got on the elevator, with shouts of “Kill the bill!” “You liar! You crook!”
Not long before, Rep. Barney Frank got an uglier version of the treatment. Just after Frank rounded a corner to leave the building, an older protestor yelled “Barney, you faggot.” The surrounding crowd of protestors then erupted in laughter.
And then the outright racism:
Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) claimed Saturday that healthcare protesters at the Capitol directed racial epithets at Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) as he walked outside.
Carson, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus along with Lewis, told The Hill that protesters called Lewis the N-word.
Tea Party protesters held a rally outside the Capitol on Saturday, which included speeches by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and actor Jon Voight, and then proceeded into the halls to lobby members at the 11th hour.
Teabaggers always whine when people suggest that their movement is, at its core, a racist movement. I’d go further. They’re not just garden variety racists, they’re straight up white supremacists. This sycophantic white trash doesn’t deserve a place in our national discourse.
In case you missed it the other day, watch this video. Look at these stupid people who can’t even answer elementary questions about why they hate the health bill so much. They can’t answer them because they don’t know. They haven’t read the bill. They couldn’t read it if they wanted to. All they know is that they’ve been activated by their corporate overlords like the useful, racist, hateful morons they are.

It’s the Two Minutes Hate. They don’t know what they hate or why. They just know they’re supposed to show up and scream epithets as they’ve been programmed.

These people are idiots! I’ve said the same thing, racist rednecks and they have no idea what’s even in the bill. Stop bringing up the Constitution when you don’t even know what’s in it except the Second Amendment. Sheeple.
clue¬?less (kl?ç?ç’lƒ?s) adj. Lacking understanding or knowledge. sheep (shƒìp) n. pl. sheep A person regarded as timid, weak, or submissive. One who is easily swayed or led.
Teabagger 1. n. A man that dips his scrotum and testicles into the mouth of another person. (as if dipping a tea bag into hot water) 2. n. A conservative activist who is so ignorant that they protest against tax cuts (that benefit them) by throwing tea into a river.

Why is it that in America, one group can claim the special right to disobey any law with which it disagrees? Radical anti-gay activists claim they don’t have to follow any law which is against their “conscience” while the rest of us do have to follow these laws. Why is the government turning a blind eye to treason, sedition and threats of violent revolution being made in our streets by thuggish citizens and elected officials? Didn’t these elected anti-gay activists have to take an oath to defend the laws they are rejecting in public?

I saw stupidity on display at Union Station in D.C., where travelers ridiculed an Amtrak gate attendant for speaking with a thick African or Caribbean accent.
On the other hand, two men in unstylish business suits ridiculed me for exercising my prerogative as a business-class traveler to move ahead of them (they were queued for coach). I was wearing an anti-DADT T-shirt with blaring letters whose visual design screamed either “redneck” or “labor union.” It was their privileged opinion that folks like me (what ever that means) don’t belong in business class.
It seems to me that society is rapidly splintering into factions that are eager to judge one another without wanting to know the facts.

Mike, I think that’s very interesting that such a thing happened to you. I would expect such things to happen to people of color, or people with thick accents (unfortunately.) But you are a white male and was nonetheless subjected to ignorant behavior. Truly, it knows no color, class, or creed.

Bill Maher showed a film clip on Saturday night (which is probably on youtube) which was shocking, to put it mildly. The anti-health care reform protesters were shouting and throwing dollar bills at some poor old man with parkinson’s disease who was sitting on the ground holding a pro-health care reform sign. They were saying things like, ‘we’re tired of giving you people handouts’ and ‘get a job’ and ‘in this country we work for what we get’ blah blah blah. I guess it never occured to these morons that he *did* work his whole life, and cannot afford his treatments for parkinson’s. The vitriolic hate of these guys (they were all men) was palpable and throwing dollar bills at someone is pretty close to being an assault in my opinion. The hysterical fear that drives these people is almost incomprehensible, and yes, I think the fact that we have a black president has a LOT to do with it.
These ‘christian family values’ types were showing their true colors once again.

I just watched that pathetic video–I’m not surprised that these low-life assholes would have no qualms about exploiting those already abused circus elephants for their shit parade. Too bad we didnt have a re-play of that scene in the Liz Taylor movie Elephant Walk.

evan
you do not have any proof that it was a member of
the T.E.A. party movement that shouted those racial
epithets or if there was any such incident. That is
gross misrepresentation. I would advise you to
make sure of your facts before making accusations.
maybe it’s your blind hatred of the T.E.A. psrty

If you hate white people, you are certainly a Democrat.
Not that all Democrats hate white people (I didn’t say that and don’t twist my words, please!)
But the people who hate white people… are Democrats.
Just sayin’.

you can laugh all you want, evan but the fact remains
that even with all the video cameras there, and a
substantial reward offered, there is still no
proof of any racial epithets being uttered, so I
would say that yours and waynes record of misinformation and misrepresentation is still very
intact

You two should get married, you’re the perfect match for each other.

brad anderson has defended the actions of any number of anti-gay bigots. Now, he is defending racists as well.

You see, y’all, for weak white men like Brad and Ken, any white person who dares to understand that we are not better than black people, and who lives a life without resenting minorities, is a traitor, because not only is the rug of white supremacy being pulled out from under these fools with double-digit IQs, but white men like me are helping pull that rug.

Bill Maher is either moronically naive or sleezily insidious… depending on how much he actually believes what he said about racism. Either way, he turns out to be a jerk… and a clown.
RACISM is the worldview that divides humanity into the “good” and the “bad” based on skin color. There are plenty (too many) people like that in all kinds of political parties and out of them. I don’t doubt for a second the Democratic Party has more than its share. For Maher to suggest that they’re all somehow herded into the Republican Party is simply mindless.
And the replies I’ve gotten here from some, who aren’t capable of responding with anything more than 7-year-old, 2nd grade playground name-calling, are equally mindless. Your hero Maher isn’t helped by your pathetically lame squawking… y’all. Evan, have you ever tried responding to what a post actually SAYS instead of what you think it said in your alternate universe?
Comment by Ken Sears — May 5, 2010 @ 9:46 am
“Racist” has become the no-fuss, knee-jerk, mind-free, 25-cent spitball of the sheep class. It doesn’t even have to be remotely related to the topic (convenient, as there is every likelihood the ones using it haven’t been able to keep up with the topic, anyway); it’s just enough that they can (barely) pronounce, or (approximately) spell it.
What a farce.
Comment by Ken Sears — May 5, 2010 @ 9:54 am
‘Nuff said. Ciao.
Comment by Ken Sears — May 5, 2010 @ 10:18 am
You’re right, Ken. There are racists in the Democratic party. They’re old Southern Democrats who never changed their affiliation, and who now vote Republican for the most part.
Since you didn’t make any effort to prove your case, and instead just stomped around mewling for attention, I won’t dignify the rest of your comments with a thoughtful response.
Comment by Evan Hurst — May 5, 2010 @ 11:35 am
Ken, try developing a little more anger in your posts – if you froth at the mouth some more maybe you can turn your lies into the truth.
No doubt there are some racists in the Democratic party, but by far the vast majority of racists are in the Republican party
Comment by Priya Lynn — May 5, 2010 @ 12:39 pm
evan, you are truly pathetic, instead of addressing my
comment intelligently, you accuse me of believing in
white supremecy. Ken, you are right. Accusing people
who have different opinions then they of being racist
has been a tactic people like Evan have used to
silence those whom they disagree with. You will notice
Evan used this tactic rather than addressing my previous comment. Evan, you have come perilously close
to lible with your last false accusation against me.
by the way my I.Q. is in the 120-130 range, how about you?
Comment by brad anderson — May 6, 2010 @ 1:43 pm
Brad, your IQ is more in the range of room temperature – that’s clear from the idiocy you post here.
Comment by Priya Lynn — May 6, 2010 @ 1:47 pm
Hahahaha, “room temperature.”
You win.
Comment by Evan Hurst — May 6, 2010 @ 2:23 pm
Brad, if your IQ was so high, you’d be able to spell more than 30% of your words correctly.
Not buying it, not for one second.
Comment by Evan Hurst — May 6, 2010 @ 2:24 pm
Brad, your IQ range is only one small piece of who you are. While some people with high IQs are highly accomplished in positive ways, some are dysfunctional in singular or multiple areas, some are certifiably mental ill, some are criminals, some are religious, and some are driven by their visceral biases/prejudices despite their presumed reasoning ability indicated by IQ score. So, your attempt to intimidate by trotting out your IQ range really falls flat.
Comment by Richard Rush — May 6, 2010 @ 2:42 pm
How many people go around talking about their IQ scores?
Comment by John — May 6, 2010 @ 5:28 pm
A good general rule is that if you feel the need to defensively state it (or make it up), it’s probably not that big.
This rule obviously applies in several areas.
