Instead of engaging in true conversation through schools’ Gay-Straight Alliances or the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network’s annual Day of Silence, Exodus continues to con its youth groups into a phony, egocentric conversation amongst themselves.
Exodus’ DOT website now hosts two new videos featuring what it calls “man on the street” interviews at an unidentified school:

The interviewees are reasonably diverse, but ignorant of antigay violence and bullying — and kept ignorant by Exodus. Besides sidestepping the focus of the Day of Silence, the videos also perpetuate Exodus International’s relativist habit of encouraging people to define reality to be whatever they want it to be — not what medical, statistical, and psychiatric facts dictate.
Besides fact-deficient videos, the DOT offers:
a “survey” in which antigay youths and faculty are encouraged to invent their own reality.
a “supplies” store where people can buy posters, shirts, and cards that, again, are free of any troubling doses of factual reality.
Until Exodus supports and interacts with existing channels such as GSAs and GLSEN, its DOT must be regarded as a campaign to deliberately suppress public awareness of antigay violence, to sidestep real conversation, and to insulate self-identified “Christians” from reality.
Wow! Orwellian indeed. How this has anything whatsoever to do with “truth” is beyond me. There is no truth in the ex-gay movement which is perhaps why most of the GLBT community want nothing to do with it.
What really gets me is their poster saying “Students having an honest conversation about biblical sexuality.”
O.K., let’ have an honest conversation about biblical sexuality. For starters, what about Abraham and Isaac prostituting their wives to protect themselves? Lot offering his virgin daughters to the mob at Sodom to be raped in place of the angelic visitors? Lot impregnating those same virgin daughters of his in a cave after they’d fled from Sodom? Lamech and Jacob with their two wives each? Esau with his three? Gideon with his many wives (exact number not stated)? David with his ten or so wives? Solomon with his 700 wives plus 300 concubines? Then there was Judah, who mistook his widowed daughter-in-law for a prostitute because she was wearing a veil, took her into a field and shagged her, and then later, when told “Your daughter-in-law has been putting herself about and now she’ pregnant”, said “Take her out and burn her.” I could go on and on.
As Robert P. Carroll, late Professor of Hebrew Bible and Semitic Studies at Glasgow University, wrote in reference to the modern fundamentalist “biblical Christianity” and sexual ethics:
“I find all such movements deeply dishonest or na?Øve beyond belief.”
The videos were actually quite interesting. Unfortunately, Exodus in not interested in an honest conversation. They just want to promote their dishonest and false theories on homosexuality that they irresponsibly present as fact.
Billy Clayton, Ahmed Rostoh…Jaheem Herrera and Carl Walker-Hoover, Lawrence King…to name just a few of the tenderest casualties of anti gay bullying and violence.
Each varied in color, age, family structure and economic strata.
THEY are indeed, silenced.
That we learn to walk in each other’s skin is the commandment in all faith communities to do, yet they fail nearly EXCLUSIVELY on the issue of gay and gender variant children.
If this were about truth, honesty wouldn’t be the first casualty, and learning about a fact of all human life and history in particular.
The ‘redemptive truth’ so often spoken of regarding supposed ‘ex gays’ isn’t a truth at all. But a deception by the attrition of anti gay sentiment.
If being gay were a choice, then where is the choice to BE GAY without fear and threat?
One has to have the freedom to be oneself, yet being gay is on condition of losing or risking even life itself.
Therefore, there IS no choice whatsoever to be anything BUT heterosexual.
These finite aspects of real morality, justice, empathy and equality seem to be the most difficult reality for FOTF, Exodus and so on to discuss.
Their own lack of clarity, let alone lack of courage is what they’d have to face. Especially the lack of courage in understanding their true commitment to the second commandment of Christ, and our own countries mission statement to all it’s citizens.
Eventually, young people will see the contradictions, hypocrisy and double standards…and that’s what Exodus et al, fear most of all.
Having to REALLY deal with the truth. So far, deception works so well for them when dealing with younger, less critical minds.
Among others, these are the kinds of resources they are equipping DOT student-participants with. Paraphrased:
They’re not just shutting off the conversation about LGBT violence, they’re encouraging it.
So Exodus, the people who say it’s time to have a conversation about homosexuality have DISABLED commentsd and ratings on their youtube channel for this video. So conversation is a one way street is it? How pathetic.
