State and national organizations who represent the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are expressing outrage over t-shirts bearing the slogan “Straight Pride” offered for sale at a Saturday rally of the Tea Party Express.
The person selling the t-shirts told the Michigan Messenger that his company ‚Äî the name of the company could not be made out on the tape due to a loud blast of noise, but it ended in “free media” ‚Äî was an official sponsor and financial supporter of the Tea Party Express, saying that they typically give 10-15 percent of their sales to the organization. He wore a button saying “official sponsor.”
Make no mistake about it, the Tea Baggers are a group that thrives on hatred and fear. And, Straight Pride = Anti-Gay. The media should stop pretending these neanderthals are anything but John Birch 2.0.

I live in Miami Beach Florida, this weekend is the gay pride festival. I have seen tons and tons of “Gay Pride” tshirts bearing female female and male male pictographs.
Where is the outrage?
Your double standard is disgusting.
Demanding special set aside rights for any given community (LGBT in this case) by assuming it is OK for your group to flaunt their sexuality and advertise it on a tshirt proclaiming pride in it, while at the same time wishing to deny another community (the heterosexual community) the same right is outright hypocritical.
Set aside rights are not equality. If you want true equality then you cannot demand rights for yourself which you are not willing to bestow on EVERYONE else.
Defaming someone who does the SAME EXACT thing you do with a gay pride shirt by wearing a straight pride shirt as a racist is outright lunacy.
Um, no, you don’t get it. Gay Pride parades are not a “right,” they are parades.
Equal marriage is a right.
And yes, any straight person who would feel the need to wear a straight pride t-shirt is missing the entire point, just like a racist who bitches about black history month.
