It is homosexuality, not celibacy, that is linked to pedophilia, the Vatican’s Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said on Monday, seeking to defuse the sex scandal that has battered the Roman Catholic Church.
This Vatican has no conscience and will say or do anything to protect itself from the disgrace and shame it has brought on the Church. I’d like Bertone to explain why LGBT neighborhoods, political organizations, churches and community centers are not shelling out billions of dollars for child rape settlements – but the Vatican is.
Sorry, Bertone – but your bigoted alibi doesn’t fly. The problem of sexual abuse is yours, pal. Jesus may have died for your sins – but we sure as hell won’t.
The Vatican is now conducting a desperate obfuscation campaign to mask the emerging evidence that Ratzinger/Benedict has been the Priest’ Official Pedophile Enabler (POPE).
If Bertone read the John Jay report commissioned by the Catholic bishops, he wouldn’t much such outrageous statements. That report didn’t link pedophilia with “homosexuality”, though the Vatican differs.
To digress, Mike Huckabee apparently has said that allowing same-sex marriage would herald incest, polygamy and drug abuse. He would probably concur with Bertone. It seems like the GOP is going back to wedge issues to regain some seats this November.
