On MSNBC tonight, Rachel Maddow reports on Prof. George Alan Rekers’ gay escort scandal. Rekers is co-founder of the “ex-gay” think-tank NARTH and of the Christian Right political group, the Family Research Council.
Maddow spotlights the contrast between the elder antigay activist’s alleged sexual behavior with a very young man, and Rekers’ letter to school boards, in which he posed as a “pediatric” expert and urged schools to be intolerant of LGBT youths — just two weeks before Rekers’ scandalous European vacation.

Meanwhile Obama wants to wait until after the elections this year to have a vote on DADT. The Dems are predicted to lose many seats making it very unlikely that DADT repeal would pass next year. And the last time we lost the house it took 12yrs to get it back. But not a peep about this from Rachel, even after Howard Dead spoke at a rally about it in front of the White House last weekend. Mum’s the word from partisan shill Rach.

As a Christian I am coming to realilze that it is not a person’s sexual orientaiton which causes the greatest damage to the Faith Comminuty.
The greatest threat comes, as it has always come from
individuals who set themselves up as “Religious Leaders” … and then live lives full of hyprocracy.
“Reverend” Rekers has made a career out of defaming gay and lesiban people. Where he is , or is not homosexual is unclear. What IS clear, however, is that he is too STUPID and lacking in judsgement to be in ANY type of ministerial vocation

Of course “Reverend” Rekers is gay. He is the worst type, the Larry Craig, Roy Ashburn, etc self loathing hateful type that attempt to improve their sense of self worth by denigrating other gays. If you have any doubt, I suggest reading what Mr. Roman from Rentboy had to say about “Reverend” Rekers favorite massage, the “long stroke” as the good reverend allegedly called it: “In a follow up interview today, Lucien’ account of the erotic massages he said he gave Rekers: Rekers allegedly named his favorite maneuver the “long stroke”‚Äîa complicated caress “across his penis , thigh… and his anus over the butt cheeks,” as the escort puts it. “Rekers liked to be rubbed down there,” he says” (http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2010/05/george_rekers_is_a_homosexual_says_escort.php). In addition, it appears this is not the first time Mr. Rekers has hired male hustlers. Of course he will deny all this, according to the Miami New Times recording of a conversation between Mr. Rekers and Mr. Roman.(http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2010/05/things_rekers_said_to_lucien_w.php)
In the end, it doesn’t really matter that Mr. Rekers enjoys a “long stroke”, is a self loathing gay man, etc. What does matter is that he has made a career out of fanning the flames of hate towards gay people and needs to be stopped.

He may be gay; he may be bi-sexual; he may be “bi-curious”, although I still haven’t worked out exactly what that’ supposed to mean. But I honestly couldn’t care less how he or anyone else would define his orientation. The important thing, as Brad says, is that he needs to be stopped, and it’ to be hoped that this episode will have that effect. The only tragedy in all this is that he wasn’t stopped YEARS AGO from inflicting psychological damage on young gay people and on children who were gender-nonconforming or who were deemed to be “pre-homosexual”.
The more thoroughly the “ex-gay”, “reparative therapy” and “prevention of homosexuality” brigades are discredited, the better it will be for all.
