In his intellectually dishonest way, Bryan Fischer actually does cut to the heart of my concerns about having a gay on the bench:
My main argument against adding a homosexual to the bench is simply this. That individual would have already made up his (generic use) mind on one of the central public policy issues of they day, whether homosexuals deserve special rights or just the equal rights the rest of us have.
He’s right. Because if we’re going to have a gay Supreme Court justice, I want it to be a gay who squarely supports the special rights nearest and dearest to my heart, like gay-only parking spaces in all parking lots (at the front), even at Southern Baptist churches, and the ability to show a pink triangle pass which would let us cut in line at the DMV and anywhere food is being served.
Of course, the actual, principled opposition to Kagan is coming from Glenn Greenwald, etc., so if you’re so inclined, read this and this.
This is the first I’ve heard of Kagan being a lesbian, but that’s only a good thing if she doesnt try to hide it by being a big gay basher ala george rekers (which from what i’ve read, i dont think she is). I guess if her girlfriend is ‘out’ and Kagan doesnt deny it, we have nothing to worry about. Her private life is her own business and I see nothing wrong if she chooses to keep it that way.

well, apparently at social events in her circle she brings her girlfriend, etc. So she’s not exactly hiding. She doesn’t need to wear it on her sleeve, and I support her right not to answer anyone’s questions about it. After all, it has nothing to do with being a Jurist, and it’s nobody’s business. And this way the bigots will have to justify their questions as being pertinent without saying “it makes me uncomfortable and it’s a sin.” Which will be difficult to do.

The Bible is explicit…man shall not lay down with man (and that goes for women, too). No way should a homosexual or a lesbian be on the Supreme Court, the highest court in this land. She is already mixed up in her thinking and biased in favor of others like herself. She is plain not qualified. Look at what a loser Janet Napolitano turned out to be as Homeland Security. The USA isn’t governed according to the bible, Doc, it is governed according to the constitution and the virginia statute that guarantees people freedom from your specific superstitious beliefs. Actrually youre translation may be explicit, as far as it goes. The original hebrew is far from explicit– it refers to “sleeping the sleep of a woman”
