As NOM runs around the country trying to claim the mantle of victimhood for their hateful cause, and as Maggie Gallagher and Brian Brown struggle to paint anti-gay people as good, loving Americans, the true animus of the anti-gay set is nonetheless coming through loud and clear. The following sign showed up at NOM’s pathetic rally in Indianapolis:
Nice. So Rob decided to fix NOM’s current logo, to better reflect their beliefs:

Rob also has video of an interview with the guy who brought that sign, who is hilariously wearing a baseball cap that says “No Marriage No Sex Exodus 20:14.” Can we mass produce those? Because that hat makes me giggle.

UPDATE: Oh my god, you have to watch the video. At first I was like “Oh, just click over,” but now I’ve watched the whole thing, and the fact that this old guy admits that he’s been “tempted” by attraction to men is just epic, I tell you, EPIC. This is the epitome of arrogant and stupid.

If by good guys you mean closeted homosexual who projects his self-hate on others. And what’s up with that Woman who says “Don’t talk to these two, they’re up to no good.” These people are absolutely batshit insane.
NOM had every opportunity to tell this person to remove his incitement to murder. They did no such thing, allowing him to parade the sign for the duration of the rally. Worse still, a fellow supporter only advised him to avoid saying inflammatory comments to the interviewer. It shows that NOM care only for how they are presented. Their refusal to denounce any expression of hatred against LGBT people, either at their rallies of on their Facebook page, while falsely claiming victim status for imaginary cases of harrassment, shows NOM to be hypocrites and liars.
Pro-equality organizations must highlight these examples of raw hatred, and their willingness to associate with extremists such as the Family Research Council, in any future campaigns, to educate the public about the dangers of the Religious Right.
The issue is not just about gay marriage, but defending the Constitution: do you want your kids to be brainwashed with Creationism at school? do you want to be charged with murder for taking the contraceptive pill? do you want the return of prohibition? and so on.
They’re just trying to get us to do something stupid in retaliation. Just ignore this fool and the rest of his ilk.

I don’t think anything will be served by ignoring this guy. I’m not exactly sure what we would do in “retaliation”. We need to be aware of these people and we can certainly use them to our advantage. This kind of hate shouldn’t be ignored.
Leviticus, huh? Will they also demand electrification of seats at oyster bars?
I do think we need to accept that as these people become more desperate, the more we are going to see this sort of thing. The fact that NOM did not take the opportunity to denounce this individual and make it clear that they do not agree with this person’s bloodlust towards GLBT people, that they probably agree with it privately.
I am concerned to some extent because we are seeing and hearing more and more and more of this. Why are people allowed to ADVOCATE and possibly incite to MURDER? Something does need to be done before some nutters go kill based on a sign like this or hate spewed from some fundie preacher’s mouth.
Although it may not necessarily translate directly here, the phrase “ready, FIRE!, aim!!!” came to mind when I read the article.
Sad to realize that they don’t have a clue as to just how MUCH they look incredibly stupid and hateful they appear to those outside their circles. The phrase “ignorant, and proud of it!” also applies here…..

Dollars to donuts says NOM put this freak up to it. No way would any bigot put his name, phone number and “church” address on that sign. IT’S A SET UP! DON’T FALL FOR IT! I’ll bet NOM has surveillance cameras all around that “church”, just waiting for the first window to be broken so they can have “evidence” that they are “threatened” by us. Word is they are having this tour only to provoke us – so they can have evidence in court to try and combat the judicial ruling that NOM release the names of all who funded them. So, if we are “violent”, they can plead to the judge just *why* the names can’t/shouldn’t be release. They don’t have any other defense to use….so they are trying to CREATE one! Protest all you want folks, but don’t give them any ammo.
