Here is one more reason not to build a wall separating the United States from Mexico.
Mexico’s Supreme Court has upheld a landmark law (8-2) permitting same-sex marriages in Mexico City, rejecting the conservative federal government’s claim that the law is unconstitutional because it threatens the institution of the family.
That’s right – we don’t want a wall because some LGBT people might just want to escape south of the border to celebrate real freedom. Isn’t it embarrassing that — thanks to our fundamentalists — the U.S. keeps falling further behind other nations? Whether it is falling to 12th place in education or behind our neighbors on marriage equality, fundamentalism has done great harm to this nation. When ignorance and intolerance become celebrated political values, a nation’s decline will not be too far behind.
Let’s hope progressive forces can take back America and return it to a place of sanity, success and equality.

Oh heavens no… Mexico has JUST proven how UNgodly and Satancially controlled it is.
It’s blazing nations like Uganda, and Jamaica, Iran, Zimbabwe et al who allow treating homosexuals as they’re suPPOSED to be treated; death.
Even American can’t claim to be gods MOST chosen nation because they still allow homosexuals to live. Well, except for those who take divine law into their own hands beating and killing homos as they ought.

Religions, fundamentalists especially, have throughout history obstructed scientific progress. Galileo was sentenced to life imprisonment for heresy in 1633. He spent the rest of his life under house arrest. In 1893, the Vatican finally endorsed his views, but it wasn’t until 1979 that Pope John Paul II publicly exonerated him.
Then there’s Darwin’s evolution argument still going on, plus the current vendetta against GLBTs by the right wing nutheads.
Progress is moving along, though, thanks to the articles in truthwinsout and the great efforts of Wayne Besen and his staff.
AND, the more the nutheads get exposed, the more desperate they get and stick their feet in their mouths all the more. How sweet it is!

We’re also 30something in the world in health care with a pathetically high infant mortality rate. The US also has workers who work the most hours for the least amount of pay increases and vacation time (thank you republicanomics). A month or so ago a news story came out about how sociologists determined which were the ‘happiest’ countries in the world. The ones at the top of the list were all in Scandanavia, the most liberal countries with the best social safety nets. No, the USA was nowhere near the top, despite our national mythology to the contrary.
