It’s always nice when American Fundamentalists decide to be a little bit more equal opportunity when they inflict their poor education and disproven methods on people.  Watch out, China:

Booklets produced by Focus on the Family, a Christian ministry based in Colorado, will be distributed to all high-school and university students in Yunnan to teach them how to reject sex before marriage.

[...]

Chinese students will be able to act our roleplays in which the boys say: “It is safe, I have a condom” and girls reply: “You want to bet my future with that condom?” According to a nationwide survey in April of 80,000 Chinese university students, a lowly 14.4 per cent admitted to having sex during their time in higher education.

In other news, the teen pregnancy rate in the Yunnan province is about to go up.

  1. “You want to bet my future with that condom?”

I would. It’s a better bet than relying on FotF

  2. Oy. Look for STD rates and unplanned pregnancies (therefore abortions) to rise in China. Effing Christofascists.

  3. These religionistas and their obsession with sex!!! Aren’t these right-wing god-feerin America rah-rah theocrat types also fairly xenophobic? Aside from trying to control sexual activity in China because it is icky and something only married hetero couples should engage in, they are probably also acting with the ulterior motive of preventing the Chinese from becoming even more numerous. Well it’ll no doubt backfire, and their population will double. FOTF should start learning Mandarin, it is the language of the future!

  4. The hate dollars they have been living on are starting to dry up here in the states. They see the writing on the wall. They are doing what the big tobacco companies did when smoking began to decline-go to other countries to sell their cancer causing product ..

  5. I think so too, James. Of course, unlike the tobacco companies, money may not be THE driving force, but money is certainly the force that allows them to keep on driving.

  6. No matter how we feel about same-sex marriage, the exegesis for the 2nd and 3rd chapters of Genesis makes us uncomfortable. Why? Because the deed Adam and Eve did, according to the evidence in the story, was sodomy–the mystery the bishop of Hippo almost solved 1600 years ago. (He thought the sin was penile/vaginal.) For more information google The First Scandal Adam and Eve. Then click, read, and click again.

  7. Robert–I hope you’re joking because in reality the whole Adam and Eve story is a myth so the “deed” they did never actually happened.

  8. Thanks for taking a stab at that one, Daniel, because I had looked at the comment like four times today and really didn’t even know where to start with it.

  9. Thanks Evan, I wasn’t sure if it was worth a response. It seems so stupid I thought it must be sarcastic but then, there are Biblical literalists out there.
