We didn’t really talk about the fact that my favorite right-wing nutjob, Lou Engle, had one of his “TheCall” rallies in Sacramento this weekend. Kyle at Right Wing Watch said it was mostly boring and sparsely attended. So, now you’re caught up! There was a TheCall rally in Sacramento, it was boring, and featured low attendance.
But there was one funny part when right-wing stand-up comic/crazy-lady-in-chief Cindy Jacobs got up and just prayed and repented her little heart out, for forgiveness from all the lesbianism and “girl-on-girl kissing.”

You see, Britney’s problems weren’t substance abuse, irresponsibility, and immaturity. NO! It was that one time Madonna stuck her tongue in Britney’s mouth, which passed the Sapphic Demon into Britney’s innocent “Hit Me Baby One More Time” mouth, that caused the trouble.
And um, I have never heard of a person that doesn’t know if they’re a boy or a girl until they’ve had sex with both. I think this is one of Cindy Jacobs’ frequent hallucinations.

In your theology can a person be a Christian and have an issue (or as we like to say “struggle with”) with smoking, swearing, sex outside marriage and still go to heaven?
Even more to the point, God said “I hate divorce” and Jesus said there were no exceptions except unfaithfulness.
But a huge number of all Christian marriages end in divorce where no one cheated. Then most of those get married again. Strickly speaking, if you are to be consistent you should admit that either all those Christians are going to hell, or God is more forgiving than you think and you should not assume that you know the sins of the people in this group or if God views them more or less harshly than these sins or your sins.
In other words, stop singling out homosexuality for special harsh judgement.

This web site (TWO) must be doing lots of things right, because it sure does bring out the sanctimonious Super Christian (SC) busybodies on a futile crusade to eradicate homosexuality. While the SC busybodies are apoplectic over the horrors of us loving our same-sex partners and having all that sodomy action, we are the ones with reason for optimism. We still have a long way to go, but the trend is clear: our side is winning. While the SCs often win individual battles, we are obviously winning the war in the long run. The very best part is that while the hysteria level of SCs has been at maximum intensity for a number of years, we are the ones winning. It’s a major irony that the harder the SCs try, the more we win. As someone who came out gay in 1969, I’ve seen the subject of homosexuality go from being virtually unspeakable to being widely discussed, and seen us go from being deeply closeted to where many of us now live openly honest lives. So, every attack by the SCs, including their ballot initiatives, assures that gay people are closer to the forefront of public consciousness. And when reasonable people are compelled to face the issue, greater numbers begin to understand that it is normal for a certain percentage of people to be gay, and that it harms no one. And furthermore, those with any depth of knowledge begin to understand that full social acceptance of gays actually benefits all of society in tangible ways. The SC’s arguments begin to be understood for what they are: learned prejudices and visceral emotions supported by religion-based nonsense.
So I say to the Super Christians: Become louder, more shrill, hysterical, hyperbolic, and send more money to your parasitic preachers — and then watch us win. And, please, spend a lot more time praying to your god for help with your crusade. At least when you are praying I know you are doing something totally ineffectual instead of engaging in actual persecution.

Caring Christian (not really), I would like to point out that two of the most pro gay rights members of our Congress are the two current Muslim Congressmen. Keith Ellison in particular has been a vocal proponant for gay people and our rights, families and relationships.
I was in Istanbul a few weeks ago, and enjoyed the hospitality and kindness of both my gay and straight Turkish Muslim friends. The gay community in Turkey is thriving, and most of its members are very dedicated to the Muslim faith, and many hetero Muslims there are coming to the same conclusions many Christians (Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Disciples of Christ, Lutherans, American Baptists, etc. etc) are here; that someone can be gay and be a part of the faith as God made them…gay.
Throughout European Christian history, and in Chrisitan majority nations like Uganda now, gay people have been killed/murdered by Conservative Christians, quoting the Bible from Leviticus as they did it. Christian lead “moral crusades” in Uganda are leading to the beatings and deaths of gay people there now. When you get the whole Christian worlds house in order, THEN you can go off on Islam. Not before. Well..not without looking like someone with no knowledge of history, or a fool.
You will either 1) ignore these facts, of cours, as you do all facts/scientific data you dislike 2) declare/award yourself an Ijazza and proclaim that these people are not “real” Muslims if they are tolerant, or that the Christians who have killed in the past or are killing/proposing the death penalty for us now in Uganda are not “real” Chrisiants, or something like that. I mean, how could the be, when they disagree with what conservative Christians have decided Muslims are? LOL
As per our not “starting on Israel” (post 79), well, why would we “start” on a country that has gays proudly in it’t military, gay pride parades in both the official Capital (Jerusalem) and the seat of government (Tel Aviv), gay adoption, and recognitions of gay marriages done in other nations, and excellent tax laws for inheritance, etc. for gay couples? I look forward to the day when this country is more like Israel! :) You DID know how incredibly gay friendly Israel is, right? Sometimes Janet Parshall and Haagee forget to mention that part when describing the country during the sermons/speeches. But, I am sure you knew.
As per equality, which you say we whine about, there was a lesbian couple, with their kids, in Florida vacationing. One of them suffered an aneuryism. Her partner Janice Langbehn and she had all the legal paperwork for power of attorney, etc. done, but,1) they were out of state on vacation 2) she was told by the staff that “this is a conservative area, and you are not a family” 3) she and her kids were not able to visit her as she lay dying. They had been a couple for 18 years…18 years “Caring Christian”. And they had kids. Kids who did not get to see the other mom who raised them one last time before she died. They were treated rudely, and with such insensitivity that I pray no one else ever has to endure it “Caring Christian”.
But, when you are kept from your wife as she lay dying..and your kids are and you are treated rudely and with no sensitivity as their mom is passing away alone in a room a few yards away, then yes….I will admit that you and I are treated equally. Makyui is right. We, and our relationships, ARE the moral equivalent of you and yours. But NO, unlike the “oppressed majority” of every more loudly whining white male conservative Christians, we are NOT treated equally.
The case I just referred to is a perfect example of this.
I look forward to your response, which will go off on tangents, appeal to emotion, present yourself and those like you as victims having gay rights pushed down their and their kids throats, as you all the while ignore or twist what I have written,and give examples of other violent and vile statements by conservative Muslims, while, once again, ignoring the examples I have given. You want to know why our society is getting more and more gay accepting “Caring Christian”? It is because most people, not blinded by fanaticism, see real world examples of how prejudice and bigotry towards us hurt real people…like the mother and her kids in Florida. First same sex attraction is not a lifestyle, being same sex attracted doesn’t entail that one must live any particular lifestyle. Secondly, every major mental and physical health association agrees that gayness is a happy normal varient for a minority of the population.
