It’s sad that this is necessary, but I’m pretty impressed that, as part of her campaign encouraging her millions of “Little Monsters” to call their Senators for DADT repeal, Lady Gaga gave them a little civics lesson on the definition of “filibuster,” and how it’s broken. Here, via Joe Sudbay, is a screen shot of three tweets in a row from Lady Gaga:

Again, sad that it’s necessary, but perhaps the Democratic Party could learn a lesson or two about speaking to the electorate, from, um, a pop star.
And since we mentioned Twitter, and it’s Friday, it’s time for your weekly reminder to follow us all on Twitter! Me: Here. Wayne: Here. Mike: Here. Truth Wins Out: Here. And the Facebook page: Here.

My knowledge of Lady Gaga is very slight. At my age, 65, she is not really on the radar; but the events of the past weeks have brought her more and more to my attention. If she can motivate her “Lil Monsters” to take up the baton of responsible citizenship, more power to her. From the Ellen clip and various other, I feel her activism is genuine, unlike a certain K.G & J.S. Don’t dismiss her as “just an entertainer”. She is also an American and exercising the privileges and duties that go with that honor.
Richard, its no more of an honour to be an American than it is to be from any other country.
