Shame on the 42* American Senators in opposition, and also on the President, who, despite this issue being a complete no-brainer AND polls being squarely on the side of justice, fairness and equality, by either their inaction or their closed-minded actions, decided to place themselves on the wrong side of history today.

DADT Vietnam

*Yes, 42. Harry Reid voted against cloture, but all who were paying attention know that he did so for procedural reasons.

  3. I refuse to say the Pledge anymore. Not because of the “under God” part, but I cannot agree with “liberty and justice for all” when gay people do not have it.

  4. The picture is of the grave of Leonard Matlovitch, Leonard Matlovich (1943 – June 22, 1988). He was a Vietnam War veteran, race relations instructor, and recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Matlovich was the first gay service member to fight the ban on gays in the military, and perhaps the best-known gay man in America in the 1970s next to Harvey Milk. His fight to stay in the United States Air Force after coming out of the closet became a cause célèbre around which the gay community rallied.

  7. Scott– I have refused to say the pledge for 20 years for that reason. I stand in order to be respectful, but i refuse to speak.
