It ought not be surprising to anyone that the Moonie Times will print anything in its paper, no matter how bigoted or disconnected from reality. So with that in mind, let’s say hello to some wingnut named Rebecca Hagelin, who has written a wordy piece about how to teach your children to hate gay people correctly, under the familiar cloak of “Christian love”:
The media myth says that “gay families” are everywhere and just as beneficial for raising children as the traditional family.
No, Rebecca, science says that. I understand that, for wingnuts, anything that doesn’t conform to the Land of Make Believe Reality where they live is automatically a result of the Lib’rul Media, but indeed, science exists! And it says you’re wrong, Rebecca.
Our children must distinguish between what’s right, on the one hand, and what’s familiar, but dysfunctional, on the other.
Ground them in the truth: Marriage is between one man and one woman, and children do best when raised by their married mother and father. This biblical truth is proven by social science data and by history, and must be protected if America is to survive as a civil society.
Nope, she’s just lying. No need to spend a bunch of time rebutting liars.
How many episodes of “Modern Family” or “Glee” does it take before our children shrug at “gay families”?
Eleven.
Blah blah blah, and then
As we struggle to preserve God’s design for the family — the design that is best for men, women and children — we will be persecuted, and so will our children.
So go ahead and pick up your Victim Cards at Rebecca’s desk, and you and your kids can feel free to cry, cry, cry about the gay families around them, whose children often outperform the children of straight people. No matter, though, because the most important thing for a Christian Fundamentalist couple is that their kids grow up with hate (“God’s love”) in their hearts.

How true – hate in their hearts. Funny how evangelicals & fundamentalists can twist the Bible around to mean whatever they want it to mean. They ought to just admit it: Hate the Sin and Hate the Sinner. But instead they prefer to lie (to themselves). This Rebecca Hagelin sounds like a Focus on the Family clone. And as we all know, Focus is doing its darn level best to promote anti-gay bullying in schools. Just their way of showing their ‘love’.
what about the gay families that don’t have kids? my partner and i are a family.
Hey, I’m a single gay father with two adopted kids and one by procreation. WE’RE a family.
….’ children do best when raised by their married mother and father’….apparently she doesn’t watch Jerry Springer, Maury, Judge Judy and on and on and on…
