Sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh. Since federal judge Virginia Phillips is signaling that she has no intention of staying her injunction on the enforcement of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the policy, at least for a few more days, remains unenforceable. Despite the way DADT repeal has been screwed up at every step, it does appear that the policy will be history before too terribly long.
So let’s see what this wingnut at the AFA’s “news” source OneNewsNow is saying about DADT repeal. Oh, he thinks it’s going to lead to a “homosexual-run military.” Too funny:

This repeal will open the door for “Trans Gendered” soldiers. What barracks will they be assigned? Also, what about the partially trans gendered? You misunderstood Ben, he said that trans is not the same thing as gay, not that some trans people are not gay. Trans people can be gay, bisexual, or heterosexual just like red heads can. Why would you god care what the enemy does to gay soldiers? Your god plans to eternally torture them anyway, anything the enemy could do to them is small potatoes in comparison. If soldiers are willing to take such a risk to serve who are you to tell them they can’t?

Gay soldiers are already evaluated just like every other soldier, they’ve already earned the respect of military leadership via outstanding performance and code of conduct. It makes no sense to put gays in a seperate unit when ultimately they’ll be intregrated with heterosexuals, its how they perform with heterosexuals that matters and that’s the only sensible way to evaluate them, just like has always been done.
Fool there’s pre-op and post-op transgedered. The post-ops are easy to assimilate. they’ve made the full commitment. They have the full toolset of their choice. But can we descriminate against the “pre-ops”? It’s the law and all have to be treated equally. They could create a very messy situation. They can’t shower or be housed in the same barracks with either males or females. We’d need special facilities for the pre op transgended males and females. This is the only sensible solution. But there’s an increased cost associated with this solution. But we could just put all the gays together in the same unit. All would be cool and comfortable with that arrangement, none would be offended, just love, no hate, no fights and they could prove to the brass what a great fighting force they are.
Look don’t get me wrong. But there was a time when I was young attractive and trying to be enlightened. I tried to accept friends who after sometime revealed there true sexuality. I made it clear that it’s not my thing but I would not abandon a frienship. that person’s value had not diminished in my eyes. But on at lease three occasions I had to politely rebuff unwanted advances. However, polite rebuffs didn’t work. These persons were unrelenting and aggressive. It wasn’t until I lost my temper and made it clear that they were in danger of recieving extreme bodily harm that I was able to get them to back off. Of course in two of the situations the friendship evaporated. Only one, and he’s been a friend for many years since was able (after sometime being angry at me feeling somehow he’d been the victim) to move forward and accept my orientation. And I accept his. We’re good friends. But I have experinced how delusional and undetered some gay men get when they have an attraction. I’ve never had to threaten violence with a women whom I felt the need to rebuff. They were able to accept the hint without creating bad feelings. I had a girlfriend who has had the same type of experiences with overly persistent “butch females”. This will surely be amplified in the tight living military arrangement. I could get away, go home. I didn’t have to be confined to tight quarters with this person when I felt uncomfortable. And I certainly didn’t have to experience lustful looks in the shower. When I’m at a health club and sense a guy is just a little concerned with me in the locker room, I leave. I don’t make faces, I don’t get nasty. I just create space. I can. If I was a soldier and could not there would be violence. I there will be. Because some men down get the hint quick enough and cross the line.

The repeal of Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell does not change this situation. Military personnel are professionals expected to behave in a dignified manner. I strongly suspect the “issues” you bring up are simply a smokescreen, given that the scenarios you paint have not occurred in other countries where gay people serve in the military (every NATO nation except Turkey)
