Well, well, well.
Good job, internet.
Here’s what Joe Solmonese of the Human Rights Campaign had to say about it:
“Clint McCance’s decision to resign from the school board is a step forward for the community he represents. We are hopeful the wounds that were inflicted will soon be healed,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese in a press release. “What remains troubling is that Mr. McCance focused his regret on particular word choices not the animus behind those words. We hope he will take this time to reflect not only on the language he used but on what he can do to make the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people better.”
Indeed.

This guy is sorry he and his family are being harrassed as a result of his ignorant rants. He’s still a ‘good ole boy’ who’s bound to come up with more homophobic rants in due course.
Apology NOT ACCEPTED. You ignorant, illiterate, bigoted, beer-swilling, white trash a*****e.
Anderson nailed it; he’s just sorry that he got caught.
Who cares as long as he’s no longer in a position to harm children? He can choke on his own bigotry in the privacy of his own home.
I think he’s sorry he was caught. He apologized for “his words”–it’s not just “the words” but what they mean. Also, it’s clear he still believes those “words”–he doesn’t really back away, he just says that he’s sorry people were hurt.
Well, I’m less critical than you people. I really don’t know what to make of this, on one hand I find it virtually impossible to believe his claim that his true feelings are 180 degrees opposite from what he wrote, on the other hand resigning and eating humble pie on AC 360 is a significant act of repentence. Although I think none of us can follow up on it very well, I’m of the mind that I’m going to suspend judgement until I see how his future behavior is.
[...] Pakman, host of Midweek Politics, watched Clint McCance’s interview on Anderson Cooper 360 last night, and he didn’t think too much of McCance’s apology. [...]
Priya–he doesn’t really eat humble pie. He doesn’t really accept any responsibility for his actions. He makes a big deal about death threats his family is supposedly getting. This act of repentence seems more like PR to me.
