Well, it doesn’t look as if staying home is considered an option, either. Maybe Obama and the Dems need to do some soul-searching.

I think that this is a very good reason and time to bring up the flaws with the two-party system! Instead of just bashing people from voting against incumbents or whatever (yes, its stupid but not more so then how many Americans decide to vote or not).
Was their an Independent or third party candidate on the ballot? If not, deal with unfair ballot access and public debate rules. Talk about Instant Runoff Voting. Talk about Proportional representation and cross party endorsemetns….

Bingo both Merlyn and Tom. The two party system is flawed yet we continue to feed the two headed beast. The Republicans vilify us and the Democrats say we are your friends as they pull the football away because they benefit keeping us 2nd class citizens. Then they can pretend to be the “good guys” but not good enough to really help us out. They are afraid if we get equal rights many in the GLBT community will start voting Republican and they can’t have that. So they constantly throw us under the bus so we come groveling back to them. Unfortunately for the Dems those in the GLBT community who are more fiscally conservative are starting to see the ruse by the Democratic Party and are saying screw this.

Excuse me. This constant b******t about the more fisically conservative reupubes? I mean, seriously, why do an incessant push for tax breaks for the rich & a constant drumbeat for increased military spending (look at the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld Iraq war costs pulease!), make the republicans fiscally responsible? Mitch and Tom + Boehner presided over an enormous amount of PORK when they ran Congress for the previous 6 years, but they are the fiscally responsible ones?! Give me a break. The Log Cabinettes are living in la la land.

Right Paul. That’s just total BS that the Republicans are fiscally responsible and the Democrats are not, in fact its the other way around. The Republicans have used all manner of sleazy accounting tactics to avoid declaring debts they’ve run up and are pushing onto future taxpayers.

Paul,
I agree with you 1000%. They are financially irresponsible. But many people in high income situations like the fact that the Republicans are trying to cut their taxes and that includes many within the GLBT community. I find myself in a very fortunate financial position but would never take this view. I personally don’t mind paying the taxes I do and it annoys me when people whine about it. I am merely pointing out that there are many within our community who all things being equal with our rights would vote Republican because it helps their individual bottom line. The Democrats know that which puts us in a no win situation. They actually have an ulterior motive for keeping us down.
