I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life. I am gay. Due to a complete lack of interest in the whole leather scene, it has never occurred to me to attend the Folsom Street Fair. I really couldn’t care less about the event, and Porno Pete flies all the way out here from Illinois to attend, again, and again and again…
I honestly can’t imagine that it is all that different from year to year.
The SF Chronicle, which specializes in news that’s unfit to print, devotes a lot of space to this event. IT’S FULL OF STRAIGHT PEOPLE. Pete should be documenting the seamier side of Opposite Sex Attraction Disorder (OSAD), and include an interview with the middle-aged couple from Citrus Heights who dealt with the loss of their jobs at WaMu by starting their own online business selling fetish gear made from 90% post-consumer recycled rubber. Actually, I just made them up, but they’re a composite of people involved in the heterosexual lifestyle. You’d be surprised what uses some strugglers with OSAD find for old inner tubes.

Sometimes Petey will mention the straight folks attending these events, but he always makes sure to mention that they are there because the gays turned them kinky!
