In a way, Cenk has a valid point: Not all gays and lesbians are not one issue voters. Yes, I would like to see the repeal of don’t ask, don’t tell; I would like to see gays and lesbians get married and have it acknowledged as a legitimate relationship. However, I am also concerned about the economy and getting a job that pays a decent wage. I am also concerned about health care issues and social security(being that I am one of the disabled persons on SSD)These issues are as equally important to me as any other gay issue is concerned.
Look, gays and lesbians should not be pigeon holed into just voting for candidates that cater to their issues. There are some good Republicans out there as well as good Democrats that are fighting for our rights on same sex marriage and the repeal of DADT. We just don’t hear that much about them because the LGBT community is too focused on the “bad” Republicans who are out to harm our community. If the gay and lesbian community rallied moree around the GOOD Republicans who really care and the “GOOD” Democrats…perhaps we could end all this non-partisanship bull crap.
Yes, we are aware that there are those homophobic Republicans who just don’t get it about our community. However, it is usually the ones that rail the loudest about our rights that are usually the closet cases…and that is one truth we all know is true.

I think Cenk’s right. I can see not voting for Democrats, but to vote for Republicans is a totally different matter. We’re talking a party with an ant-gay plank in their platform. We’re talking a party that regularly makes gays a wedge issue.

Good Republicans good Democrats…good other…yes, but regardless of “party” basic human rights issues are what society should be formed upon, not particularly an economic status or plan. Economics come and go, people are forever!
