This is the most pointless survey, and accompanying article, I have ever seen, at least this week.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Protestant pastors overwhelmingly believe that Oprah Winfrey isn’t a Christian, but three-quarters of them say former president George W. Bush is.
Winfrey and Bush, along with Glenn Beck, Barack Obama and Sarah Palin, comprised the list that LifeWay Research presented to Protestant pastors along with the question, “Which, if any, of the following people do you believe are Christians?”
The majority of Americans self-identify as Christian, and Protestant is the largest category of Christian denominations. With that in mind, LifeWay Research set out to examine the beliefs of pastors leading Protestant churches. The national telephone survey took place Oct. 7-14 and included 1,000 interviews.
Winfrey earned the lowest affirmative response, with only 19 percent of pastors saying they believe she is a Christian. The other television personality on the list, Beck, earned the second lowest affirmative response at 27 percent.
Ooh, but Barry O was in third place, just behind Dubya and Snow Snooki!
File this crap in your Useless Information databank — maybe it will come up in trivia one day!

Early on they didn’t think Christ was the Lord, who cares what Protestant pastors overwhelmingly believe? Having these same pollsters believe that Bush is more Christian is a very sad commentary nonetheless on why the world and this country in particular is in the shape it is in what with people NOT treating people better. Without getting into scriptural references but if the basic teaching of Christ of loving our neighbors as ourselves and loving God with all of our hearts were followed; which is something I think Oprah exemplifies far greater than many Protestant pastors manage to pass muster on and something G.W. Bush never comes close to then, bah humbug on them all!
Glenn Beck is not a Christian. He’s a mormon. and as many Christians iwll tell you, they aren’t.
How could they be, with Jesus and satan being twin brothers?
Mormons consider themselves Christians–and they do believe in Christ. And really, the way so many people that Protestants would consider real “Christians” act I don’t see why this bit of religious nitpicking is relevant.
The Ice Queen of Narnia is more of a “Christian” than GW Bush ever was or ever will be.
I’m not a Christian, so I have no horse in this race. I’m just quoting all of the other Christians.
GW Bush seems very “Christian” to me–he acted based on lies and ignorance and he villified people who disagree with him. That’s what Christianity means to me!
“I’m not a Christian, so I have no horse in this race. I’m just quoting all of the other Christians.”
All the other Christians think that all the other Christians that differ from their dogma in ANY way are not real Christians. There are literally thousands of Christian denominations, and they all think theirs is the Real True Christianity.
At least, until one talks about which religion is the most popular and/or majority one, and then OSHIT everyone gather ’round!
