Ah yes, we’ve heard the “life and death” argument a couple of times in the last few days. Those opposed to DADT repeal are becoming more shrill as they days go on. What a bankrupt argument…if DADT is repealed, soldiers will die. It’s a cover for their real feelings; why can’t they just say, “I hate homosexuals?”
What countries have been weakened by gays in the military? That has got to be the stupidest, unsubstantiated quote in quite some time.
Why doesn’t he just say that he does not like gay people? We all know that is what he is really trying to say anyway.

It isn’t acceptable for him to say that soldiers have been whispering to him that they would leave the military if DADT is repealed, out of fear that saying it could affect their assignments if DADT is in fact repealed. Those soldiers have a duty to follow orders. They actually sign contracts and can not with total impunity, for example, threaten to leave the military if the military is suddenly commanded to, for example, attack Iraq. If U.S. soldiers really did say such things to Gohmert, his only appropriate response would be to tell them that as soliders, they must follow orders.
Ahhh, Rep. Gohmert. The living emobiment of American Anti-Intellectualism. Obviously, the good Congressman does not know how social science analyses work or he would realize that the survey sent out to the miliary and their families was EXACTLY the kind of survey he was speaking of. He would also realize that the response rate of 28% is astronimically high for random surveys and that a +/- 1% in the results borders on “highly significant.” If he understood all this, then maybe his speech could have been more coherent and his objections to repeal more respectable. Alas, that is not the case and I’m not surprised.
I have no idea how this man continually gets re-elected. In most other countries, someone of his intellectual stature would never make it pass one-term on the local town council. We need to start demanding more of elected officials intellectually. Ignorance and stupidity have no place in the halls of Congress.

At this point, those arguing against repeal look stupid and pathetic, like Nazis saluting Hitler after Hitler killed himself.

We really need to come up with a Santorum-like definition for Gohmert so that it becomes enshrined in the Internet forever. How about “Gohmert – n. A man with a microscopic mind and even smaller genitals.”
Heil, Herr Gohmert! You inspire me no end. Your superb understanding of surveys, gays and the “whisperings” of soldiers to you who will leave the military if DADT is repealed, are such that I can’t find the words to express my admiration for you.

He must have been talking about Israel, oh wait…
