What do you expect from someone STUPID enough to pick sarah palin as a running mate (but we’re glad he did).

Cafone – an Italian word my mother and father often used for people like Mr. McCain. It says it about him. This man never found the courage to just say that he doesn’t like gay people and doesn’t want them to be in the military. Instead, he has always couched it in protective terms about the soldiers. Of course, he isn’t the only one to spew such nonsense, but, with his unwarranted “Senior Senator” status, he drew much more attention. Now, the old soldier can only whine and whimper about some sort of repeal in the New Congress. Like hell, buddy. Republicans still won’t have the numbers in the “New Senate”. Ha, ha!

Some of those “gold stars” are already up – and they’re for gay and lesbian service members who served and died already, while “elite” types (like McCain, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in Vietnam) will continue to spew this drivel.
I am gay and I served in the military, the repeal of dadt is the best thing to happen to the military. Those who have an issue with it are free to leave the military, now recruiters have a whole new pool of potential recruits that formerly barred from service!

I listened to him live and he made no sense. He was an out of touch old man rattling on nonsensically.

Two days ago my mother was buried in the historic US Army cemetery in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, one of the most beautiful cemeteries I have ever seen. She died one week ago. The chaplain at the burial was an African American member of the 82nd Airborne–incredibly kind and also completely cool with having a gay couple and a lesbian couple at the burial. Both my father and mother were American heros. He was a decorated combat veteran of three wars and was in the US Army for 30 years. Like General Petraeus, he ran out of room on his uniform to fit the all the ribbons. You would think such a person might come with prejudices–but he did not–not even remotely. He was politically liberal and did not have one ounce of racial or any other prejudice in him–quite the contrary. Both my father and my mother, who was a teacher in the US Army schools when we lived all over the world, had lots of gay friends while we were growing up–many of them in the Army. My father was totally cool with gay people. Totally! My mother played the piano in chapels and for plays and musicals for Army theater groups, and let me tell you, there was NO shortage of show tune queens and in the US Army–and my parents loved them.
Let me also assure you that John McCain is completely out of touch with what is going on in the US military. At least 70% of service members are cool with having gay people serve with them, and guess what? They already do have gay people around them and they know it, and it doesn’t matter one bit to them. McCain graduated from the Navy Academy at the bottom of his class–he almost couldn’t get through. He was a big frat boy, party animal, drinker and womanizer. He got shot down over North Vietnam and spent years in prison there, but that does not entitle him to bigotry or to imposing his colossally bad judgment on the US military or anyone else in the United States.
