Something new and different!
Homosexual “marriage” is legal in Canada, where acceptance of the lifestyle is taught in public schools and television preachers avoid making negative comments about the issue. John-Henry Westen, editor-in-chief of LifeSiteNews.com, believes Christians — out of love — should start approaching those trapped in the homosexual lifestyle with the truth about its sinful nature. But he says they avoid doing so because they do not want to be viewed as hateful.
Like hell.
“They’re not opposed out of any kind of hatred or animosity. In fact, they’re opposed out of love,” Westen contends. “Christians care enough about those men and women who are in these destructive lifestyles to tell them that it’s hurtful — and it is hurtful. God designed us so that a man and a woman fit together in complimentarity.”
Like hell.
Do I need to say anything, or is the fact that I’m laughing, you’re laughing, the whole world is laughing, sufficient?

Complimentarity, my a*s!
He oughta see all the “love” my wife and I have to look forward to at my relatives’ Christmas gathering tomorrow.
“Complimentarity” is wingnut speak for “Get in the kitchen and make me a pot pie while I watch the football game, you pregnant b***h.”
How about we turn the tables on ‘em, and — out of love and concern for their quality of life — start approaching those trapped in the Christian lifestyle with the truth about its anti-intellectual nature.
It’d make their heads explode!
WMDKitty, as a satanist you’re in no position to talk about the anti-intellectual nature of christianity.
Priya, I’m willing to bet I’m a far more moral and honest person than ANY Christer you could send in my direction.
“Question Everything” is, quite frankly, THE main principle I live by.
They’ve been telling us this for centuries now…most of us are smart enough not to listen.
Maybe you are WMDKitty but Satanism is just as anti-intellectual as Christianity.
Priya, get off your f*****g high horse already. you hate religion. we get it. stop treating anybody who doesn’t question religion – or anybody who doesn’t question it to your satisfaction – like they are out to get you. Not everyone who believes in some form of higher power actively opposes you, or even PASSIVELY opposes you. Unlike YOU, not every person with personal beliefs about religion sits in smug satisfaction that they are correct and everyone else is a fool who willingly sits in ignorance.
seriously. every f*****g time.
Emily, where did I say WMDkitty was out to get me? Where did I say she actively or passively opposes me? Contrary to your baseless assertion, a great many religionists, probably the majority, DO sit in smug satisfaction that they are correct and everyone else is a fool who willingly sits in ignorance.
You need to stop letting your wild imagination control what you think I believe and start reading what I actually write. That you think any religion is an improvement over no religion shows just how irrationally biased you are. Take a valium lady and come back down to earth.
Emily, get a grip and grow some thicker skin. I don’t know why religious people can’t take criticism now and then. Imagine if you had to put up with the b******t atheists and agnostics do every f*****g day of the year. Or for that matter all the s**t we take every day as GLBT people–Christians don’t get anywhere near that kind of s**t.
Emily operates under the assumption of religious priviledge. She thinks any religionist deserves undue respect and concessions and when she’s treated as an equal with non-religious people she thinks that’s a terrible offense against the superiority she’s automatically due.
Wow, really, Priya? Not one but two posts in furious defense of yourself? Maybe if (here and on other forums you frequent) you didn’t lash out at EVERY PERSON WHO ISN’T YOUR TYPE OF ATHEIST then it would be tolerable. But you do. All the time.
I didn’t say you SAID it. you ACT like it. Actions speak louder than comment text. WMD Kitty didn’t even say anything against YOU, yet you took their comment to mean that they were attacking you, when they weren’t even addressing you OR atheism in the first place. They just said something against another religion, having nothing to do with you, and yet you felt the need to bash them out of the blue. Why??
Prove it. Show me your statistics. Give me quotes. Because *I* certainly don’t think my theology is more superior than any other religious person, so long as basic human dignity is upheld, like not murdering people and being kind to your neighbors. I believe that these are things you can find in every faith, however, as well as atheism.
O rly, Priya? I think this? So you’re a psychic? NOW who’s making the “baseless accusations?” I have never acted this way (nor said it, since that’s so important to you).
I have no idea just wtf happened to you to make you act out so rabidly against even the *hint* of religious or theological thought.
sometimes it’s just best to stfu. For everyone’s sake. PLEASE.
No, Daniel, Christians don’t get a lot of the s**t Atheists and Secular Humanists get, but Jews do get a lot of s**t, either for “hating Arabs and supporting Palestinian oppression” or “controlling the liberal media and banking industry.” Oh, and don’t forget from other Jews, who say you’re “not Kosher enough to be Jewish” and the like. Conflict and enemies inside and out. Take your pick.
Emily said “Not one but two posts in furious defense of yourself?”.
The only one who’s furious here is you Emily – control yourself. If posting twice makes a person furious then I’m the queen of England.
Emily said “I didn’t say you SAID it. you ACT like it.”.
And where did I “act like it” in this thread? Once again you’re criticizing me here for something I didn’t do. Get that chip off your shoulder Emily, if you’re still stinging from something I said in the past its time for you to get over it and deal with what’s happening now, not your ancient wounds. Just because religion has historically been off limits to criticism doesn’t mean its entitled to not be criticized.
You’re incredibly hypocritical. WMDKitty and I made the EXACT SAME criticism of religion – that its anti-intellectual. But in your twisted mind she gets a pass because she believes in some other religion and I’m a b***h because I don’t believe in any religion. We get it, in your mind any religion, no matter how twisted, makes that person better than someone who has no religion. Seriously Emily, calm down and think about how preposterous you’re being.
Emily said “Prove it. Show me your statistics. Give me quotes.”.
You first. Prove it, show me statistics, show me quotes where I sat in smug satisfaction that I am correct and everyone else is a fool who willingly sits in ignorance.
Emily said “WMD Kitty didn’t even say anything against YOU, yet you took their comment to mean that they were attacking you.”.
What planet are you on? I never said anything to that effect and I most certainly never thought it. You’re just making up wild fantasies about things that never happened.
Emily said ” Because *I* certainly don’t think my theology is more superior than any other religious person.”.
Oh, bull, now you’re a pompous liar. If you didn’t think your theology was superior to other religious people’s theology you wouldn’t believe in your theology.
Oh come on, isn’t Porno Pete saying something stupid?
Since you made the claim about “most people” who subscribe to a religious belief are sitting in smug satisfactory self ignorance, yours is the onus to prove it.
I said that I don’t think my theology is any better or worse than anyone else’s. Then you proceeded to do this:
Now I’m a liar? Because I don’t conform to how you think all religious people must be, I must therefor be a liar? How can you not see the irony in bashing fundamentalists while acting the part yourself?? I believe in what I believe because I personally feel a calling to it, not because i think it’s the “correct” way to believe. What’s right for me, what brings me peace, or gives me a certain path, is not right for everybody, just like not everyone can carry the same profession or attend the same college.
WMDKitty made a comment about the topic at hand, so-called “Christians” giving us their so-called “love” which they can’t even see is hate. Then you attacked her because she herself subscribes to a religion (not even Christianity, a different one.) Why it was necessary in your brain I have no idea. And this is a pattern I’ve noticed for some time, today included.
I don’t think you’re a b***h, and I have never once called you that, in my head or in any forum. But suddenly I have a “twisted mind?” Have you decided I too am now your online adversary?
I already told you in my previous comment how I view other religions. If they subscribe to basic morals, like being kind to others, they’re no worse or better than my own. This includes atheism. They don’t get a “free pass.” I would never make an excuse for a terrorist who kills in the name of their faith. If that view makes my mind “twisted,” so be it.
Every time someone puts in even the most menial religious statement, such as “the God I believe in doesn’t hate gay people at all but loves them for who they are” for example, YOU have to cut in with something like “[name], nobody cares about your imaginary god.” As if you’re going to “enlighten” them into believing the same thing you do.
The thing that amazes me is that if a Christian did the very thing that you do, cut in with “Priya, your disbelief will land you in hell; only Christ is the correct, True path” every time you made a comment about religion, you’d have them in your cross-hairs every time they made an appearance.
Oh Emily, really now. Because Jews get s**t we can’t mock any religious beliefs at any time? Did Priya specifically mock Jews–was the banking and media control brought up? Also, I hate to break it to you but there are Jews who are just as hateful and bigoted as Christians. And do you really care about the feelings of all the masses of Jews who are reading this site and are having their feelings hurt? There’s a lot in Jewish beliefs that can be mocked–after all where do you think Christianity sprang from?
You made the claim first Emily, the onus is on you to first prove I “sit in smug satisfaction that I am correct and everyone else is a fool who willingly sits in ignorance” and then we’ll get to my claim. If you don’t want to deal with issues in the order they arise don’t expect me to respect your flaunting of the rules of rational debate.
Emily said “I said that I don’t think my theology is any better or worse than anyone else’s. Then you proceeded to do this:
“Oh, bull, now you’re a pompous liar. If you didn’t think your theology was superior to other religious people’s theology you wouldn’t believe in your theology.”.
No, you said you don’t think your theology is “more SUPERIOR”, check your own comment at 12:08 PM before you falsely claim I misquoted you. And yes, you’re a liar because you certainly wouldn’t call yourself a Jew if you didn’t think your theology was superior to other people’s theology – cut the BS Emily, that’s bloody obvious. Saying you “felt a calling to it” is just another way to say you think its superior. You woudn’t have “felt a calling to it” if you didn’t think it was superior.
Emily said “WMDKitty made a comment about the topic at hand, so-called “Christians” giving us their so-called “love” which they can’t even see is hate. Then you attacked her because she herself subscribes to a religion”.
Oh spare me your pathetic irrationalities. If me calling her religion anti-intellectual was an attack on her then her calling christianity anti-intellectual was an attack on all christians but like the hypocrite you are you have no criticism for her but plenty for me.
Emily said “I don’t think you’re a b***h, and I have never once called you that, in my head or in any forum. But suddenly I have a “twisted mind?” Have you decided I too am now your online adversary?”.
Riiight, you claiming I’m on my “f*****g high horse”, I think everyone who isn’t an atheist is out to get me and smugly think everyone who disagrees with me is a fool who is happy to sit in ignorance isn’t anything like calling me a b***h – gotchya Emily, you’re soo smart. You don’t think I’m a bith you just irrationally attack people you don’t think are bitches with multiple F-bombs and repeatedly demand that they STFU for making the EXACT SAME comment WMDKitty did who you have no criticism for – THAT’S a twisted mind Emily, no doubt about it. No, of cooourse you’re not my adversary when you demand I STFU and pretend that religious beliefs are some kind of special idea that no one can criticize.
Emily said “I already told you in my previous comment how I view other religions. If they subscribe to basic morals, like being kind to others, they’re no worse or better than my own. This includes atheism. They don’t get a “free pass.”.
Oh, but they DO get a free pass from you. When I said a religion was anti-intellectual you freaked out, dropping the F-bomb and demanding that I STFU and yet when WMDkitty said a religion was anti-intellecutal you had no comment whatsoever. Somehow I’m a b***h and she’s not because its okay for religious people to call a religion anti-intellectual but not okay for an atheist to do the same thing. What a profound hypocrite you are.
Emily said “Every time someone puts in even the most menial religious statement, such as “the God I believe in doesn’t hate gay people at all but loves them for who they are” for example, YOU have to cut in with something like “[name], nobody cares about your imaginary god.”.”.
Emily, if you wanted to complain about something I said in some other thread then that was the place to do it. I never said any such thing here and its pretty obnoxious and childish of you to use what I said elsewhere as an excuse to go on a tirade about a comment I made here especially when you had no complaints whatsoever when a religionist made the same sort of comment. Get that chip off your shoulder, you have no basis whatsoever to complain about my comment about Satanism in this thread. Obviously rationality and logic aren’t your strong points. You’re letting your emotions control you and that’s why you are blind to your stunning hypocrisy and irrationality.
Emily said “The thing that amazes me is that if a Christian did the very thing that you do, cut in with “Priya, your disbelief will land you in hell; only Christ is the correct, True path” every time you made a comment about religion, you’d have them in your cross-hairs every time they made an appearance.”.
You’ve got a lot of nerve comparing my comment to someone threatening another with eternal torture for disagreeing with them. That is a great example of your profound irrationality and hypocrisy. There is NO comparison whatsoever between saying “your beliefs are anti-intellectual” and saying “You’re going to be eternally tortured for thinking differently than me”. There’s that religious priviledge of yours again, you’re so used to thinking religious beliefs are special you can’t even see the incredible absurdity of the equivalences you make.
I couldn’t even make it through your comment, Priya. It got so ranty, repetitive, angry, and long that I couldn’t even make head or tails of it. Plus it just wasn’t worth the dregs of energy I have left at the end of the work day. It must be that Atheist privilege of yours that you got goin’ on.
and besides, someone much more important than you is wrong on the internet. I have to go bring them to interweb-justice.
(oh, feel free to declare yourself the “winner” of whatever this was! you totally just won the internet. :D )
“It must be that Atheist privilege of yours that you got goin’ on.”
Wut.
Do you know what privilege is? You don’t get it just from being “angry” or outspoken.
Well, that was fun.
That’s a good one Emily, me “ranty, repetitive and angry” coming from a woman who dropped one f-bomb after another, repetedly screamed for me to STFU and went on and on about things that were said months ago in other threads as if they had any relevance to the comment I made in this one. If I was as irrational, hypocritical and hopelessly wrong as you I’d be making excuses to exit the debate too.
WMDKitty called a religion anti-intellectual. I called a religion anti-intellectual. Like the hypocritical bigot she is Emily went on and on about what a b***h I am, told repeated lies about what I said and how I reacted and yet had no criticism whatsoever for someone else making the exact same comment.
GOSH, Priya, why are you so aaaaangry? ;D
I wonder why it’s generally bad form to accuse any other marginalized minority of being too angry, but when it’s atheists it’s totally okay. Heaven forbid religious people ever be made uncomfortable, because religion, by virtue of being religion, is to never be questioned and always respected (hence: religious privilege) and “sit down and shut up” ALWAYS worked for everyone else.
Because it’s not like atheists have anything to be upset about in a quasi-theocracy like the US, where religion is automatically given a nod and ANYTHING that isn’t a polite little nod is seen as an attack. Including “Good without God? You’re not alone” billboards, or wearing “One nation, indivisible” shirts in a government building.
And by some hilarious coincidence, PZ wrote something semi-relevant today.
