Some dingus at RedState thinks he has come up with the “winning statistic” against marriage equality, which is that nowhere near as many gay couples have kids as do straight couples. THEREFORE, following dingus’s logic, those kids shouldn’t have the protections that come with married parents. Um, QED?
Wingnuts are adorable when they think they’ve made a point.

A caller on Lynn Samuels yesterday was complaining that ‘the left’ always accuses folks on ‘the right’ of being stupid (unfairly in his opinion). Ok, sometimes we really mean ignorant (lack of information), rather than stupid. *But*, a lot of what I hear coming from ‘the right’ isn’t just ignorance, it really IS stupidity, and this latest argument against equality is a prime example.
I don’t think ALL the people on the right are stupid–but the ones who are won’t shut up–they’re so loud and constant they drown the few intelligent voices on the right out.
I’m going to avoid the “stupid” label and go for moronic. I find myself wondering about the fact that as a segment of the overall population, gay people are far fewer in number than str8 people so gay couples are far fewer in number than str8 couples. It would logically follow that gay couples raise fewer children than str8 couples. Am I missing something here? This is the “winning” statistic? I wasn’t aware that marriage equality was a statistics competition.
After all the years of dumb-assed arguments against equality for gay people, I still can’t understand why the ability to produce children is used. People today don’t usually get married so they can produce children although if that’s their motive, so be it. There is no legal requirement to state your reasons for wanting to get married. The law only requires that you are of legal age, in most states that you are opposite sex partners, and that you understand to what you are committing yourselves. That’s it! The state does not require that you be in love, produce children, be wealthy, etc. Oh, and don’t be drunk or under the influence of drugs when you say, “I do.”
The writer of the “winning statistic” is patting himself on the back for producing nothing of any worth.
If he only had a brain…
