Indeed. Via Joe, we have this quote from a certain E.W. Jackson, who is obviously quite an ignorant and theocratic sort of wingnut:
“This [Chick-Fil-A boycott] is further proof of the insidious and dangerous hatred by homosexual activists of any Christian who dares try to live out their biblical values. The problem in society today is not hatred of homosexuals, but hatred by homosexuals of anyone who refuses to say ‘amen’ to their sexual behavior.
“Go out of your way to patronize this fine business. They have a right to support whomever they wish without being persecuted for their Christian faith and values. The bigotry is so virulent that it may be time to make Christians a protected class. Right now ‘Christo-phobia’ and ‘Biblo-phobia’ are at such a fever pitch among leftists and homosexual activists, and they need to be stopped before they get carried away in their zeal and do bodily harm to someone. Once again we must remind them our Constitution says, ‘freedom of religion’ and not ‘freedom from religion.’” – E.W. Jackson, head of Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND), which wants to replace our democracy with a Bible-based theocracy.
As Joe points out, Christians are already a protected class, but that won’t stop the wingnut from crying about what victims he and his comrades are.

Jackson says, “The problem in society today is not hatred of homosexuals, but hatred by homosexuals of anyone who refuses to say ‘amen’ to their sexual behavior.” No, its dislike of anyone who hates me because of who I am and works to codify that hate into law.
Jackson says, “Right now ‘Christo-phobia’ and ‘Biblo-phobia’ are at such a fever pitch among leftists and homosexual activists, and they need to be stopped before they get carried away in their zeal and do bodily harm to someone.” Right, you are the victim and we are the bullies. I can cite many cases of Jackson’s types of xtians perpetrating violence against LGBT people (in the name of their religion, of course), but can anyone give me even one example of an LGBT person perpetrating violence against one of these xtians?
Jackson says, “Once again we must remind them our Constitution says, ‘freedom of religion’ and not ‘freedom from religion.’ Actually the constitution does ensure me freedom from your and all other religions.
Chick-fil-A can give support to any causes it chooses. This is America. And we can choose to not give our money to companies that support legislation that hurts us. When we do, it is not bullying, it’s exercising our freedoms as Americans.
A boycott is not “persecution”. It’s people choosing not to give their hard-earned money to others who use it to harm them. The AFA engages in boycotts all the time. Is that “persecution”?
The RW preaches the virtues of capitalism. Why do they always whine when it works?
I thought STAND stood for:
Sanctimonious Theocratic Americans for Negating Democracy
This whole “persecution2 thing is ridiculous. And I strongly dislike people who hate who I am and wish to keep my spouse and me from having full civil rights. It really blows my mind sometimes, but then fundies are really good at laying burdens on others that they would not for a moment bear themselves.
Exactly, Merlyn. They want us to undergo “conversion” therapy? Then they should be right there beside us, changing themselves from straight to gay (I am not requiring them to actually have gay sex once they come out the other side though :-) )
They want us to be celibate? Then they should be celibate themselves. If they point out that their “sexual relations” are not a “sin”, point out to them that they are asking, nay, demanding, something of us – celibacy – that they aren’t willing to do themselves. So why should I give anything they say any credence if they aren’t willing to do it themselves?
