Over at the Daily Dish, Chris Bodenner nominates Eugene Delgaudio for a Malkin:

“Parents should be warned and frankly the authorities at CPAC should be told that there are minor age students who need to be looked after and protected. Have the Radical Homosexuals really infiltrated that deeply into what used to be a pro-family movement? Has the leadership of CPAC gone so far as to actually not read anything or think it’s just “political opinion” propagated by old fashioned and outdated leaders that adult homosexual predators exist? Well, they DO exist and they are taking advantage of the alcohol parties at CPAC to poison the minds and pollute the bodies of young conservatives who are still too naïve to know what is being done to them,” – Eugene Delgaudio, President of the Public Advocate of the U.S., warning about GOProud in a fundraising email.

The Wiki link is instructive in case the name doesn’t ring a bell.  This is the guy who sits on the Loudoun County Virginia Board of Supervisors, and who wrote the following breathless prose in a fundraising letter

One stormy night I drove to a mailshop hidden deep in a nearly deserted stand of warehouses. I’d heard something was up and wanted to see for myself. As I rounded the final turn my eyes nearly popped. Tractor-trailers pulled up to loading docks, cars and vans everywhere and long-haired, earring-pierced men scurrying around running forklifts, inserters and huge printing presses. Trembling with worry I went inside. It was worse than I ever imagined. Row after row of boxes bulging with pro-homosexual petitions lined the walls, stacked to the ceiling. My mind reeled as I realized hundreds, maybe thousands, more boxes were already loaded on the tractor-trailers. And still more petitions were flying off the press. Suddenly a dark-haired man screeched, “Delgaudio what are you doing here?” Dozens of men began moving toward me. I’d been recognized. As I retreated to my car, the man chortled, “This time Delgaudio we can’t lose.” Driving away, my eyes filled with tears as I realized he might be right. This time the Radical Homosexuals could win.

The full text of the letter can be read at the link.  Delgaudio is also the guy who warned darkly that “…the next TSA official that gives you an ‘enhanced pat down’ could be a practicing homosexual secretly getting pleasure from your submission.”

The problem is most people will look at this and write the man off as a complete idiot.  Which he is.   But he’s also, as the Wiki article states, a leader in the nation’s anti-gay rights movement and one of the key leaders in the conservative view of “moral health”.  In short, he is a completely normative part of the anti-gay movement.  From their point of view he is not an extremist…just a little more plain spoken in public then many of them perhaps would like.  But he has his role to play.  When he warns people of the dangers of letting homosexuals in to a conference where minors are present he speaks for them all.

Parents should be warned and frankly the authorities at CPAC should be told that there are minor age students who need to be looked after and protected.

If you think this is an extreme unrepresentative example of anti-gay rhetoric then you have not read their fundraisers…the ones that go out only to their own mailing lists.  You have not listened to their talk radio stars.  You have not read their web sites and in particular, the comments on their websites.  You are not listening.  This man speaks their language.  Yes, he’s a kook.  But so is LaBarbera, Fischer, Barber and the others.  They sit comfortably in the pews with the rest of the faithful.  And they know The Homosexual wants to destroy America, give AIDS to everyone and sodomize children to make them into homosexuals too.

You really have no clue how deep the hatred for gay people goes until you have spent some time listening to them talk among themselves.  Never mind the public face the more respectable in the mainstream press leadership presents to the rest of America.  Never mind all that sanctity of marriage claptrap.  Whenever they say, as they’re busy erecting barriers to gay equality, as they’re busy fighting against anti-bullying codes, that they do not hate homosexuals, listen carefully for even the slightest whisper of condemnation for the more vocal hate mongers and you won’t hear a peep and there is a reason for that.  Men like Delgaudio, like Phelps, like Fischer, are all saying what they’re all thinking.

You will not see the heart and soul of the anti-gay movement on CNN or even Fox.  That is the public face only.  The heart, the soul, is in the Abyss.  “…the next TSA official that gives you an ‘enhanced pat down’ could be a practicing homosexual secretly getting pleasure from your submission.” That is where you need to listen to them talk.
