Scott Lively has gone to Moldova to rescue them from an “outbreak” of gayness, according to a letter he posted the other day:

In early January I received a request to come to the country of Moldova, between Romania and Ukraine, to help the small but growing pro-family movement here. It was decided that the best time was the end of February through the beginning of March, but this was a completely arbitrary choice for us.
However, in God’s divine schedule I arrived just after the first move of a secret plan by the homosexual powers of the EU to push an anti-discrimination law based on sexual orientation through the Moldovan government.
Scott Lively is like Jennifer Garner’s character on Alias, apparently.
I wish I had known at the beginning of my ministry in the early 1990s what I know now. We might have stopped the homosexual agenda in America. What I know now, and have taught the Moldovans, is that the anti-discrimination law is the seed that contains the entire tree of the homosexual agenda, with all of its poisonous fruit. It is the cornerstone of their legal and political strategy, putting the power of the governernment behind the legal premise that the practice of homosexuality deserves public approval and that opposition to homosexuality, including that which is rooted in the Biblical world view, must be discouraged. From that premise the conclusion is logically inevitable.
Yes, that all people deserve to be treated equally, and that fundamentalist Christian batsh*t really doesn’t have anything to add to the discussion. I know, we are so secretive with our agenda.
The Moldovan version of the bill however went much farther than usual and included a far reaching provision to give homosexual activists power in the national school system, teacher training and the preparation of instructional materials. They normally don’t include such power-grabbing measures at the beginning, which indicates to me that they had extreme confidence that this law would pass with very little scrutiny or opposition.
Indeed, it was secretly approved by the government ministers (the Executive branch of the govt) two days before I arrived, and fast-tracked so that it reached the Parliament just one day after I arrived. Almost no one in the country knew that it had been introduced because the media had not reported it.
They knew Captain Space Bigot was coming, so they got together with the Illuminati and thwarted his plan!
We have since learned that the timing was dictated by the scheduled arrival of Vice President Biden in March. The new homosexual law was, apparently, to be a gift to the Obama administration.

From the time I stepped off the plane my hosts and I began focusing all of our attention on defeating this bill, and I was able to help them lay out a strategy to maximize my presence in the country. I won’t go into specific detail, but I can tell you that we had tremendous success. As of today, none of the 11 committees of the parliament (each of which must endorse the bill for it to come to a full vote) is willing to endorse at this time, and the vote has now been postponed indefinitely. It hasn’t been killed, but it has been stopped, and the pro-family movement is organizing a monitoring group to give advance warning to the people if there is any forward movement of the bill.
So he lied to them, because that’s what malicious liars do. Yet another case of fundamentalists only being able to prey successfully on people with less access to education.
More importantly the pro-family movement was dramatically strengthened during this week, and hundreds of people have come forward wanting to be trained as advocates for the pro-family position. Even better, the leadership itself has come to understand the importance of switching to the offensive and conducting a pro-active campaign to focus the nation on the vision for the future of a family-centered society.

Um. Yeah. Do we have any idea whether this is true? Because telling your U.S. followers about feats of derring-do in a country they couldn’t find on a map if you held a gun to their heads sounds like a set up for one hell of a scam.
And I thought removing homosexuality from the DSM was the seed of the poisonous gay fruit tree. Unless it was Lawrence v. Texas. Maybe it’s a gay agenda dandelion!
Just from a brief google search looks like their is a fight going on, one the “pro-family” side will loose. Since if Moldova wants in the EU they will have to. Granted, this is coming from an American with no idea of European politics so I might be wrong
David, you are actually correct. If they want to join the EU, they have to act like real Europeans on GLBT issues. Not negotiable, unlike say, abortion rights, which 4 nations, losers all by the way in the grand scheme of life/politics/culture/economy…. Malta, Ireland, Poland and, I think either cyprus or Andorra…cannot remember) and thus something that will happen.
Or, they can forgo the EU, and tie themselves to Russia, which is a favorite of the right wing right now…which tells you just how far they have fallen.
One thing to think about. Moldova is the poorest, least developed, most backward nation in Europe. About the only thing it exports are Moldovans looking for work. Calling it a wreck is an insult to wrecks everywhere. Even the dictatorship in Belorus has attained a higher standard of living for its people than Moldova. And, in the poorest nation in Europe, Scott Lively has been taking up the governments time with making life harder for….gay Moldovans. It says a LOT about them that they are now going to Moldova (where they will lose) and Uganda, which is a human rights disaster area.
South America, which was their great hope, is largely lost to them. Argentina has gay marriage, several other nations have Civil Unions, Brazil is moving towards this, and Mexico has already (to Americas shame) passed up on this issue. India has decriminalized being gay a cuople years back, and gay culture is thriving there (Indian friends describe the tears of joy at the very occurance of the first Indian gay and lesbian film festival a couple years back…inconceivable 10 years ago). China has done the same as India, and while there is a lot of work to get recognition there, progress is being made.
The operators of this site correctly, and before most others, pointed out that we have reached the “tipping point” in America. What must terrify Scott Lively even more is realizing that, Africa and Jamaica aside (and there is some progress even in parts of Africa), the rest of the WORLD is rejecting his fundamentalist white trash version b******t.
When a supposed victory, temporary if real at all, in the most backward nation in the Balkans is seen as a victory by Scott Lively, there is actually a cause for us to be not only angry about those who will suffer in that little basketcase of a nation due to him, but mainly to CELEBRATE….if Scott Lively has been reduced to MOLDOVA (remember the little country where the hot blond on ‘Dynasty’, Oxenburg I think, was supposed to marry some minor prince of and rule his country? Well, that was Moldova, and being depicted on an over the top prime time soap is the nations greated claim to fame) it means we have passed the “tipping point” onthe INTERNATIONAL level indeed!

I’m embarrassed to say I remember that! Except that the name I remember was “Moldavia.” It’s apparently a former principality that has been split up. From Wikipedia: “The western part of Moldavia is now part of Romania and the eastern part belongs to the Republic of Moldova, while the northern and south-eastern parts are territories of Ukraine.”

WOW! To hear this guy tell this story, you’d swear he just prevented the atomic bomb from being dropped on Hiroshima. I will never be able to understand how so-called Christians can reconcile their hatred (which is not what they call it) of homosexual non-discrimination with the idea of all people being created equal in the eyes of God? What do they think “equal” means? It is obvious to me that “equal in the eyes of God” doesn’t have to mean “equal” under the laws of man. BUT, I have heard so many times how they believe that God’s law supersedes man’s. Well, that should mean that being equal in God’s eyes requires being equal in man’s eyes, hence within man’s law, being that is how we govern ourselves.
We need someone of this guy’s ilk to explain this logically because it just doesn’t jive (not that I expect something to jive coming from them).
When a man seriously believes that his activity as a busybody whipping up anti-gay prejudice in a foreign country is part of “God’s divine schedule”, you know that he’s a monomaniac whose grasp of reality is becoming very tenuous.
If Scott Lively had some real courage and conviction, he would travel to a Scandinavian country and tell the people how their prosperous lives could be even better if only they would start bashing the gays.
Oh, I thought Moldova was where that massacre on Dystasy happened.
